Reviews of At The Pier Arcade
"Some of the games were out if order then we got done with our games and went to check out and the prize kiosk wasn't working so we were out all those points. We couldn't get ahold of anyone using the help number. My kids were very disappointed and we won't be going back."
"Never have any available staff to take care of things like when a game takes your tokens but don't get the credits an if someone is there they are very rude and not very friendly with the children there not just my child c'mon Quincy Town center do something I know for a fact that I'm not the only one this happened to I just refuse to keep quiet about it"
"Lots to do. Good prize selection. No waiting in line for attendant bc prizes are in a machine. Clean. Its located in a mall so lots to do and love to go to the movie theater by it. Only down fall is you have to purchase a reloadable play card would be lots easier if accepted quarters or tokens."
"Seems to be frozen in time. Looks just like the Aladdin's Castle I frequented in my teens, at Del Amo Fashion Center, CA. Even still has a DDR Extreme which was the very last installment of DDR that AC got before the Del Amo location went under. I'm shocked that any remaining AC location never upgraded to at least the Supernova or X series. The pads on that Extreme cab appear to be in immaculate condition and very clean. Definitely unusual to find an Extreme cab in that condition nowadays. Most, if you find them, are in very poor condition. Screens super fuzzy with lines running through them, pads dirty and non responsive, just overall beaten down and tattered. I remember showing up one day and all the games where moved out of place and everything was unplugged. Screens were off. I'd assumed they were just maybe doing maintenance or getting ready for a remodel (like moving the machines around). It had happened before. Came back a week later and everything was gone, including the old sign. Was such a sad day. Our location had a LOT more music/rhythm games; we had 4 DDR machines: DDR US 1st Mix, DDR 3rd Mix, DDRMAX2 7th Mix, and DDR 8th Mix Extreme. So many tournaments were had, and some of the most legendary DDR players came out of this location, namely Johnny Sheridan Blade aka JSB. That guy was doing what was considered the impossible at the time, and opened the doors for so many of today's dance game players. JSB showed everyone else that a higher level of gameplay could be reached. Check out JSB vs Reflex - The Legend of Maxx on YouTube. JSB is the one playing on the left/P1 pad. Legendary moment, getting that kind of a grade/score on what was considered one of the hardest boss songs at the time. We also had Pop'n'Stage, ParaPara Paradise, Guitar Freaks, Drumania, and Beatmania (the IIDX series was not a thing yet). It was the place where I became hooked on music/rhythm games and came weekly for my DDR fix. Made many friends there, some of which are still friends till this day, more than 23yrs later. Anyway, once AC at Del Amo Mall closed down, they then popped up at Lakewood Center Mall for a time, but then closed down shortly after without notice. I'd apparently JUST missed them at that location as well. Anyway, was sad to see the Del Amo location go. But I'm happy to see at least one location still in operation and still holding up, even if it does have its issues (according to reviews). It's been hard to compete with the larger arcades like Round 1 (which is ALSO a music games paradise and has the latest DDR versions from the Ace era as well as Pump It Up and many others), but I'm happy Aladdin's Castle is still going strong. I hope they keep on going and fight the good fight. I also hope that one day I can pay this location a visit. It really does look just like the one from my teen memories. I realize I don't really have any personal photos of the place I once frequented during my most formative years (camera phones didn't become a thing until a couple years later and even then, they were SUPER expensive at the time due to being the newest and latest technology), but the memories remain. It's an era in my life that I look back on very fondly. Long live Aladdin's Castle."
"I don't know who was working Christmas Eve 2021, but he's a real MVP. My son and I wanted to kill time before a movie, and one of the machines malfunctioned, and he gave us a game free, plus swiped another one for us. He was super nice and helpful. It's a good arcade. The prize thing was a little tricky but we got it figured out."
