"Good restaurant with great service and good food. It’s clear that they’re still figuring out some of the dishes but we generally liked the food. Some dishes were a bit more salty than we would’ve liked - the cabbage dish could’ve done without the lamb bacon. The Miyazaki beef is great but it’s salted which is odd since it’s also served with a small bowl of salt should you want to season it - perhaps bring it unsalted. The pandan tres leches was good but the bread could’ve been more spongy, allowing for more milk to be soaked up. We got the following dishes with asterisks to indicate what we’d get again: - Amberjack* - Bluefin* - Potato - Cabbage* - Flounder - A5 - 5oz - Pandan Tres Leches"
"Came here with another couple on a Saturday night. We arrived about 15 minutes late for our 7pm reservation because we got caught behind a train but our table wasn't ready for us until after 7:45. The bar was open and we were able to order a drink at the bar while we waited. Upon being seated at our table they gave us complimentary glasses of prosecco which was a nice gesture. The restaurant space is lovely and service was mostly very good though the food was very slow to come out. My 3 star review really boils down to the fact that I really did not enjoy the food. The one dish that I thought was great was the ribeye. The pork chop was heavily crusted and oddly sweet. The lettuces were just that, very very lightly dresses lettuces. Everyone was surprised when the venison came out and was tartare because the menu did not specify that. Didn't love the flavor on the quail. The dishes were also pretty small portion wise for the high price point. I know the reviews here have been mostly great, but this one just isn't for me."
"This restaurant was hard to find because the letters on the sign are so small. From the minute you walk in, you can tell it is a fine dining establishment. The ambiance is very chic and romantic. It’s quaint and only has seating for 50 people. The lights are very dim and the place settings were very elegant. You can see the full kitchen with the live fire yakitori grill. The service here was professional and top notch. The food was served quickly and the presentation was beautiful. We started with the bread service. The bread was warm and delicious with the farmer’s butter. The bluefin tuna on crispy rice was full of flavor with a hint of lime. The venison tartare was unique. The smoked yolk cream gave it a smooth smoky flavor. The cabbage with the lamb bacon was very tasty as well. The maitake mushrooms were delicious. There was a charred taste and the sauce was mouth watering. The shrimp had a great flavor. The chef recommends to eat it with the shell on but I was not a fan of the shell. We got the 13 oz ribeye. You can choose how many ounces you want. The steak was tender and juicy and the jus gave it a great flavor. Dessert did not disappoint. The basque cheesecake was rich and creamy. The pandas tres leches was moist and yummy. Because of the orange rind on top, it almost tasted like fruity pebbles. The chocolate flan was topped with chocolate crumbles and ice cream. It was delicious as well. Valet parking is available. This is a great date night place. Will definitely be back to try some other dishes."
"Exceptional food, service and ambience. We had the venison tartare, potatoes, snapper, quail and lettuces - all 10/10. Wine list was great and I’m looking forward to exploring more of it in the near future. Baso was well worth the wait!"
"Truly outstanding vermilion grilled fish, cabbage, and maitaki mushrooms. An impressive amount of work went into each but it was amazing! The wine pour was more a shot than a glass. Some more direction on the menu, recommendations, would have helped, especially on the rather generous portion size (food, not wine)"
