"I’ve been searching YEARS to find a great hair stylist. Skylar absolutely blew my expectations out of the park. I never care to write Google reviews but this one was a no-brainer. A week ago I made the POOR decision to cut my own hair. She not only helped fix my mess of a cut (never again) but she brought me to my desired color in one session (absolutely no breakage). If you struggle with neck/back issues - they also have neck-supportive hair washing chairs. Feels like you’re laying on a mattress. 10s across the board!"

"I previously tried a few barber shops, but then Covid happened and I wanted a place that was clean and neat. I was very happy to find Lux Salon in downtown Northbrook. It's convenient, and I usually walk there. David and Jeff are their men's hairstylists and I can certainly recommend both of them. They both do great work! With two stylists, it's much easier to get an appointment. David is new; I had my first cut with him today and he did not disappoint! I am impressed with his skill and attention to detail. He instinctively knew how to give me the look I want and how to work with my hair texture to get the best results with my longer hairstyle. I would say that some of the strongest points of this salon are cleanliness, professionalism, expertise, and quality of service. It was recently updated, and it looks nicer than ever. "I’m genuinely surprised by all the good reviews on here. I went in for a cut and color and it was a disaster. Everyone was incredibly nice and it was a cute salon, but I think the girl who did my hair may have been brand new. I wanted to get highlights and slightly lighten my hair to help blend in the incoming grays. She suggested darkening it to hide the gray which didn’t make sense. Luckily another person came over and corrected her. She ended up not lightening my hair but she did do highlights. Except she accidentally bleached my highlights instead of lightening them. So then she had to add toner to correct her mistake (which she charged me for). My hair ended up looking ok. Not great but not as bad as it first did. The whole ordeal took over 3 hours and cost me over $200. It was the most expensive haircut I’ve ever had in my life. I normally cut and color my own hair but sometimes like to treat myself to having a professional do it. Normally it turns out well, but in this case I made a mistake going here. I don’t want to name her here because she was very nice about everything and I think with some training, she could probably improve."
