"Not only is it the place to get condiments and spices (ie., cardamom, masala spices for chai, fenugreek, turmeric, saffron, rose water, etc), but it is THE place in St. Louis for fresh somun bread in the mornings (hot out of the oven!). If you’re looking to marinate meat or make Persian dishes, you’ll find all the ingredients here. Not to mention, if you’re itching to make your own Ethiopian food at home, you can find shiro, berebere, and fresh injera every day. You can probably find similar items at Jays, Pan Asia, or Global Foods but the bread is definitely fresher here!"
"Most of the time I find what I need on a fair price. The have fresh breads and fresh meat. The owner is so nice and welcoming. Recommend for middle-eastern family and restaurants."
"Well stocked middle eastern market. The best thing is the freshly baked pita bread. They are still hot when I bought them. They are absolutely soft and fresh and different. You would not love those ordinary store bright pitas any more, once you eat this. The meat section is also great. I bought some goat meat. They have frozen section too. From spices, to clothes, cookies, dates and nuts, lentils, indian spice you will get a whole range of stuff here. I bought some sweet cheese. I thought they will have some food too, unfortunately they didn’t. Highly recommended."
"The man took us around to show us the best things and was extremely courteous. So many new and exciting things. Fresh pita and huge flat bread like naan. We needed orange blossom water to make Morroccan dessert. Chippewa and grand is my new favourite corner with this place, the Afghan market, the South African market, and the thrift store as well as the International market and the Habitat for Humanity restore (which is getting solar!!)"
