About the Business
Live Oak Hillside Disc Golf Course is a beautiful institution located at 7924 Shin Oak Drive in Live Oak, Texas, United States. Established in 1971 from property donated by developer Lloyd Denton, this park serves as a major flood control project and offers a variety of amenities for visitors to enjoy. The park area was petitioned to become a Texas Historical Site in 1979 due to an old Indian Camp Site located within the park, with records of an archaeological dig still available in the city's archives.
Spanning approximately 75 acres, Live Oak Hillside Disc Golf Course features a football field, basketball court, skate spot, three baseball fields, multiple playscapes, and of course, a disc golf course. A 2014 bond project added lights to all ball fields and a trail that circles the lake, providing a nearly 2-mile path for visitors to enjoy. The playground areas are equipped with state-of-the-art astroturf and surrounded by a fence for added safety.
The park also includes picnic sites with tables and barbecue pits, open to the public on a first come, first served basis. The football and baseball fields are reserved for youth sporting teams but are open to the public when not in use. Additionally, the park features two restroom facilities for visitors' convenience.
In addition to recreational amenities, Live Oak Hillside Disc Golf Course boasts a skate park known as "The Oaks" Plaza Skate Park, funded by the city and the Live Oak Optimists Club. The skate park offers a variety of features for skaters, bikers, and parkour athletes to enjoy, including a bi-level plaza style skate path with skatable elements installed along the way.
Near the park's lake, visitors can relax at Lakeside Park, which features a tranquil pond and gazebo perfect for picnics and fishing. The park is home to various waterfowl species, and visitors are encouraged to feed them responsibly to maintain their health and the environment. Boating activities are permitted on the lake, with certain restrictions in place for safety.
Live Oak Hillside Disc Golf Course is a testament to the city's commitment to providing recreational opportunities for its residents. Whether enjoying a round of disc golf, a day of fishing, or a skateboarding session at the plaza skate park, visitors are sure to find something to enjoy at this vibrant institution.

"Had no issues coming here walking my 2 miles after work weekly, every few days until 2/26/24. Always parked on this side aside from 2 times. Anyway, got back to my car and saw that some a$$wipe poured a sticky drink deliberately on my driver’s side. Whoever you are, I wish you have a lovely encounter with a semi-truck and those evil hands of yours be of no more use. Also, a man got bit by a dog which was in a pack of 3. Thankful for him for guarding my son & I as we walked back to my car."
"Overall a well laid out course. Nice mix of shorter & wooded to long, wide open fairways. About 1/2 of the course has a solid layer of rubble, larger rocks that need to be navigated or maybe turn an ankle. Signage is very good from fairway to fairway (multiple signs). Most fairways have two concrete tee pads. Baskets are in good shape with numbers in them. Course is free to play. UDisc or a picture of the course map is a good reference, but signage is above average. There are places with heavy brush, and losing a disc is quite likely. Nice mix of flat and small hills."
"We had fun! Texas oak tree, cacti, snd wide open skies decorate the course— a beautiful display of Texas landscape This is a challenging course but has beginner starting points. This is a perfect stop for families. It is good for when the weather is nice because there are wide open sections with minimal shade. It’s a good idea to take water and good shoes because there are stickers."
