"Hogwild is one of the oldest and most consistent music stores in San Antonio. There is emphasis on underground metal and punk but there are sizeable sections for mainstream music and other genres as well. It's an achievement for local/obscure bands to have their releases at Hogwild, and this is also the place to go to look up flyers for good shows and DJ nights in SA. The prices average out, sometimes records are expensive and sometimes they can be way cheap. It's up to you to know your vinyl whether you can get something cheaper elsewhere or if you should grab it ASAP because it's a steal or you know you'll never see it again. The staff is knowledgeable in a broad variety of music and they are generally very nice and patient (even in annoying situations, or when dealing with questionable/aggravating customers). If you're a diehard music fan, this is the place to go. If you're only into music for fashion or social media likes...this might not be the place for you. Most of the negative reviews are from crybabies upset about having to wear masks towards the end of the pandemic."
"Hello, I would like to say first, that you have a great selection and the ambiance is great...until now. I visited your store today after being away fir a while (lengthy illness), and from the time I arrived, and throughout my entire shopping experience, I noticed that there was a short, hispanic guy (red shirt/jean), whom I assumed was an employee or security, or someone, seemed to subtly keep following me or moving to, and then standing in the area where i was browsing. I initially ignored it, until it became annoying and then insulting. There were other patrons in the store, but I noticed that they did not receive the same "attention." This continued for my entrepreneurial experience, culminating with me moving up to the counter to check out, where the guy walked away from me, then proceeded to go behind the counter and stood next ti the cashier, and looking through the records that I was purchasing; the cashier had already scanned the priced from them. He did not do the same thing for ANY other customer, nor did he focus on others in the same manner. I absolutely do not want to seem as though I'm making something out of nothing, however, this is my feeling and observation, which I must communicate to the ownership because this felt like a micro aggression and as a veteran who served this country for 28 years, and risked my life in wartime for the flag; I did not deserve that treat or to ge made to feel like I couldn't relax and enjoy my shopping experience at your store as I have done in the past. I spent $138 today, and I almost decided not to purchase the items, but I didn't want to empower the guy, however, I will have to reevaluate my future options for shopping at your wonderful store. Thanks in advance for your attention to this matter."
"A record store with a great staff and a great inventory of new and used records. I only wish the 45's were more together in one place. The first time I went here, I only found the new 45's. It wasn't until my second visit that I found the used 45's. I do love that they have a turntable available to play the records on."
"For those who miss the fun of cd or vinyl hunting and just meeting people with a similar interest in Rock or Metal or Punk this is the place to be. A good spot for the newer releases in the heavier genres. Pricing is a little high but not astronomical. Some rare/ hard to find records available too if you take the time to look. Big promoters of the local metal scene with show flyers and also a section dedicated to local bands. A fun way to spend a hour or two."
"My favorite shop to go to when looking for new records! The shop is clean and modern, good music always playing, and the service from the staff is wonderful! If you want a good selection of new and used records this is your place"
