"Kenitha does an excellent job maintaining my locs. I am always highly satisfied after my appointment. I would definitely recommend!!"
"Kenitha was on point, encouraging and efficient. The atmosphere was everything. The vibe was Awesome. I haven't been in a shop that it didn't take all day to get a service done. I traveled from Kentucky and I will be back. I can say it was worth the trip."
"Finally found someone who was willing and able to do my hair. Kenitha was friendly and did a good job. I will be returning in a bit for maintenance. I would definitely recommend this place. It's very clean and has eye appealing decor."
"Any kind of hair style you need, you can find it here except a haircut... Ms.Pittman is a True Artist at doing hair and she knows her STUFF... Locs, Braids, Eyelashes, Flat Iron, whatever you want, she can do it... I Highly Recommend this place..."
"I had previously been a client of VIP Loc Studio without incident. I scheduled this appointment and paid a $27 fee for booking on April 13. My appointment was confirmed and scheduled for April 16 at 12 PM. I arrived at this appointment at 12:03 PM prepared for at least an hour maybe even two hour wait due to it being a holiday weekend of which I was unaware of when scheduling. The owner approached me in the salon and said that I initially had booked under an appointment type that I normally do not of which she said world be fine as she could care for my hair to maintain to last up to a future appointment with her and I was fine with this. She then approached me a second time and stated it would be a long wait even though she had confirmed my appointment and due to the size of my locks it would be an hour or two wait because there were two clients ahead of me. I was fine with this since I had already paid and arranged for childcare for this appointment as well as drove out of town for childcare in order to maintain this appointment, so I remained patient and understanding the entire time. After some time had passed I noticed that the owner who was scheduled to do my hair head but had gone out of sight for a long period of time, I assumed she was taking a break or resting due to the amount of clients that she had in the salon that day. The time was now 3:47 PM and I walked around the corner and saw her taking care of a third client ahead of me when she had previously told me that I was next and I had also not seen the client that she was caring for when I arrived at the salon. Whenever I questioned when she was going to attend to my hair care needs she nonchalantly said it’ll be 10 more minutes. I then also asked her why was she caring for another client ahead of myself when she had assured me that I was next, she nonchalantly said “They just kept coming in”. Sitting in a hair salon especially on a busy weekend and full of women it is expected to have some sort of wait time. What is not expect it is to be disregarded as in an unimportant client and also to be treated so disrespectfully when I remained patient and kind. Whenever I informed the owner that I would not be able to stay in the salon and allow her to care for my hair due to the long wait she offered to get me in on that Tuesday following the weekend. I informed her that this would not work due to my work schedule. I then left the salon extremely hurt and disappointed. So much that I was hesitant about writing a review in hopes that some form of apology or even acknowledgement would come of which it never did. My hesitation stems from my love to support black-owned businesses. It becomes difficult to support whenever there is such a high disregard for clients regardless of how often they schedule. Prior to this occasion I have never had an issue with the owner, ever. On this particular day it was very evident that I did not matter. I also reached out to her Friday, April 22 to request my refund of $27 that was required to schedule my appointment with her. In her text message she stated she had no problem refunding me the money. It is now nearly one week later and I have still not been refunded which leans more toward extreme disrespect. All of this could have been avoided with more communication from her to myself prior to me coming to her salon. If there was not enough time did a simple phone call or text message would have sufficed and would have been fine with rescheduling. I was hurt more than anything because I have never had an experience like this before in my life. It becomes really hard to support businesses when professionalism and decency is lacking. I am thankful for this experience because there is a lesson and a blessing in everything."
