The Grove Firewood & Mulch

"I have ordered from this company several times over the past few years, and have always been happy with them. However, they totally screwed up today. I ordered 2 face cords of hickory firewood this week, and they provided me with two Saturday delivery time frames: 8-12 or 12-4. I chose 12-4 for a reason. Then their delivery person called me Friday morning to say they had loaded his truck up with my order, but he then noticed that the delivery time was Saturday afternoon. He then asked if he could bring it over anyway. I told him that it wouldn't ordinarily be an issue to take the delivery early, but I was working Friday and we were having a birthday party for my daughter Friday afternoon and some of the guests would be parking in the driveway and staying overnight. That is why I scheduled for Saturday afternoon delivery in the first place. So this morning, I heard my phone ring while I was in the shower, and when I got out of the shower to see who was calling, I heard the delivery being dumped in my driveway. Since there was, in fact, a car parked in the driveway where I asked them to deliver, the guy dumped the load in front of the garage door. When I ran outside to see why they were delivering now and dumping it in front of the garage, he said they close at 12pm on Saturdays. So the obvious questions are: why did they provide a delivery slot for 12-4 on Saturday if they don't deliver after 12pm; why didn't someone from the company simply call me and tell me that they made an error and would need to schedule for a different delivery time; why didn't the guy who called me Friday morning tell me they wouldn't be able to deliver after 12pm Saturday? Now I need to run outside immediately and move two face cords of firewood so my wife can pull her car out of the garage. The most annoying thing about this entire ordeal is that it could have been so easily avoided. This isn't rocket science. Edit: I'm adding one star for the delivery driver's effort to move the wood from in front of the garage door after I expressed my displeasure to him. This doesn't excuse the core issue, but just want to acknowledge his effort."

"I came across The Grove via advertising through postal mail a few months ago. After looking online at the site, I was quite impressed with having the ability to pay online and pick up later, let alone the selection of various prepackaged firewood. When I arrived I met Tom who was all masked up and ready to help me load my 6 bundles. We briefly chatted and he told me about the family business and how they also offer mulch services. My family and I lit up our fireplace and had the best fire in years. The wood is great and is cut perfectly for those looking for an inside fire. A few weeks after my intial visit I went back and picked up 6 more bundles. Tom was there again and this time we chatted about best fireplace practices. Not only can you come to The Grove and get great firewood, you can also learn from the experts. As we enter another cold spell, I'll be visiting The Grove again this weekend for my 3rd purchase. These guys are great."
