Reviews of RIC Nails & Spa
"I want to like this place so bad but I cant as it's lacking. My first visit at end of January I thought it was great and my nails lasted for about3 weeks no chipping or peeling. I was a satisfied with that so I made a second visit. Idk why the quality toom anose dive in 3 wreks butit def did. I noticed they charged me $10 extra dollars for pedi than the previous time, I didn't find it a big deal... Until TWO DAYS after my service the polish on my right toe completely flaked off in one solid piece wich indicates to me it wasn't done/preped properly. I went back and the woman made me feel like she didn't charge me extra when I know she did as i compared the last two payments on my Bank statement. I wasn't going to argue w her about a refund so I asked that she repair the nail. She makes the "repair" im not kidding the next day the polish on my left foot completely flaked off!!!! So within 3 days of the service & repair I had two nails fail. I don't have time to keep going up their and having it "fixed" only to fail again. I will not be returning. $55+ $12 tip is wayyyy to much for nail polish to be falling off. I've never had gel polish peel off like this!! Also the man thath does nails is heavy handed and I feel like too much digging into my nail beds was done. I even flinched a fewtimes. The do NOT care about YOUR NAIL HEALTH here!!! None of them free had designs they use stickers. Very disappointing for me. Also this place is littered with passive aggressive signs, major turn off for me but at this point is an indication that their work is lacking and would rather deny refunds/service rather than admitting ther poor work. I do NOT recommend!!!! Edit!!: Look how badly the guy dug in and ruined my nails especially on he ring and Pinky finger!! The middle finer on my left hand side clearly shoes the depth he dug both times I visited here. I'm honestly concerned for peoples safety at this point"
"The staff was nice enough and spoke as I entered. I asked for the most basic service - a manicure and I brought my own polish. The women assigned to my services was nice but I can only assume she was untrained and quite possibly doing services unlicensed based on her lack of knowledge for what is typically included in a manicure and she didn’t speak any English. She cut my fingers with the clippers twice - once on each hand, while shaping my nails which led me to cancel the pedicure service so had agreed to get but continued finishing the manicure which was most important for me. She filed the skin of my finger more than the nail and didn’t touch my cuticles which was the primary reason for getting a manicure. I asked who I assumed to be the manager or person in charge if cuticle removal was included in the manicure she said yes and proceeded to look at my nails and said that the cuticle had been removed…without really looking. The woman doing my nails only understood enough English to say sorry because I jumped when she cut me. The cuticle was never pushed down with the tool and was so thick that it could be lifted. The process went like this: soak in warm water, clip the top and sides of my nails, file with an emory board, added lotion and had me wash my hands. Then she put a warm towel on my hands. She pulled out the base coat to paint and I asked to speak with someone because at this point I’m confused with what is included. I let them know that I didn’t want to proceed with the remainder of the manicure…because why are you insisting that the cuticle was attended to and I asked if it was included with the service as a courtesy to not make them look bad in front of the other clients. I shouldn’t have had to ask that question. I asked to pay for the service that had been completed. I was told it was $15 and I paid it. The manager offered for me to come back or I could get another person to do it but at this point my trust was lost so I declined both options. The pictures below are of what my fingernails looked like as she pulled out the base coat to paint. They were no where near ready to be painted much less lotioned. Any red spots is leftover nail polish and is how I came in…that wasn’t removed during my service. This is 02-14-2024 Valentine’s Day. I needed my nails done to attend my grandmothers funeral. I do not typically give bad reviews because as a small business owner myself I understand the impact of public negative feedback however this was completely unacceptable service and protocol. I considered removing it thinking it may have been a 1 off situation but I read several other reviews that mirrored my experience and realized that this is a bigger issue. I also noticed that the poor reviews were offset by random 5 star reviews which is why the 4.1 overall rating is not as low as it would be. I hope this review helps consumers make the best decision for themselves and helps the business improve their overall experience."
"The staff is great! Friendly and professional. I love this nail shop. My go to place for sure"
"They were very nice, clean, & professional. However, because of language barriers, I received a pedicure in almost cold water. I try not to complain, as I've worked in service as well, but we've got to do better about UNDERSTANDING the person you're giving a service to. She seemed new. The lady who could speak English finished my pedicure when it came to the polish & going behind the other lady to check & cut cuticles. As she polished my nails, she laid the UV lamp onto my polished toe TWICE!!! The second time when I felt it & spoke up about it, she waved me off as if saying, "Back up, I've got this!" That was even more off-putting than the pedicure in semi cold water. My services came up to $68, which is fine! I gave her $80, and she hands me $2 back and says, "Thank you!" I politely let her know I gave her $80, and she pulls out the calculator. (YOU BETTER!!!) I still tipped $7. $5 for the lady who soaked my feet in semi cold water & $2 for the lady polishing my nails, but laying the lamp on them. I was contemplating getting a full set while there, but ultimately changed my mind after my experience. I'm not sure if I'll be back..."
