"This is definitely a beautiful, elegant restaurant with delicious Italian food. We had reservations but arrived early, so we knew we would have to wait. The table wasn't ready, but we were seated 15 minutes before our reservation time! However, once we were seated, no one came to our table for 5 minutes, when we received bread and water, no menus. After 9 minutes of waiting, I flagged down a server and asked if there was anyone who could help us. She was very apologetic, and after that, the service was stellar! The eggplant appetizer was delicious with a rich, thick tomato sauce. The rest of the food was also amazing! Our only complaint was the temperature/timing of our entrees. We hadn't finished our appetizer when the entrees arrived, both of which were room temperature. The side dish of pasta (all items are a la carte) was steaming hot and fabulous. It had an olive oil, herb sauce with a bit of spice. When I mentioned the temperature of the food, I was immediately offered a fresh entree, which I took home. We were celebrating a birthday, so we were given a complimentary slice of cake, which was light and creamy. I'm chalking up the initial lack of service and food temperature to our late reservation time. We will definitely visit again but opt for an earlier reservation."

"Stand out was definitely the service. From the coat check, to our waiter, Fahmy, as well as the kind man who served us water and took care of our dirty plates- this place has it on lock! You don’t need my review to tell you this was a great date night. We got the special so our meal was on the more expensive side, a bottle of wine, and desert. We like to ball out on dinner- you definitely don’t need to spend that much. Entrées run from about $22-32. Very reasonable. Please give this place try! Again, we loved our server Fahmy who was extremely personable. We will definitely be back!"

"I just love small intimate restaurants like Charlie G’s. What a treasure in St. Louis. Located in The Hill neighborhood this place has some great history to go along with the excellent food. Try the fried ravioli as it’s a St. Louis favorite. I had the lobster spaghetti and it was delicious. I definitely could have split the plate with someone too. Unfortunately I was flying home early the next day so I didn’t get to enjoy my leftovers. It’s pretty expensive but definitely worth the food and experience. Plan ahead and get a reservation as it can fill up days ahead of time."
