"We stopped here to stretch our legs and read the markers. Some very neat history from Stephen F Austin and Texas Independence."
"Great roadside attraction!! Love everything about Texas history!! Be sure and stop by!!"
"Its located outside of the original Sa Felipe de Austin visitor center/ artifacts. Prior purchase of the tickets is mandatory to visit the place. It has a statue of Stephen F.Austin and Symbol of Texas establishment along with First general store of Texas. Has parking lot outside the statue with wheelchair accessible parking. You can take a short stroll from here to visit Brazos river adjacent to the entrance. #HappyVisiting"
"Stopped to see the statue and was surprised with bluebonnets (visited early April). It was later in the day so we missed out on the museum across the road."
"Quite far from the city or town. It is a peaceful place. Not many visitor I've seen. A historical location of early colonial settlers in the then Mexican Texas. One of the cottages is still preserved, however, stays locked for good reason though. It was a pleasure reading the information board that shows you maps, paintings and gives you historical information. The best time time to visit would be anytime in the winter. If you are visiting in the summers, then try to visit either early in the morning or late in the evening if you don't wanna get boiled and cooked in the heat."
