Potton House

Potton House, located at 200 South Gregg Street in Big Spring, Texas, is a beautifully restored 1901 Victorian home that is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. This institution serves as a museum showcasing turn-of-the-century furnishings that belonged to Joseph Potton, a master mechanic for the Texas & Pacific Railroad and an early civic leader in the community.

Joseph Potton, the proud owner of the first car in Big Spring, lived in this charming, ornate quasi-mansion with his wife who was active in St. Mary's Episcopal Guild. Visitors can experience the English tradition of afternoon tea that Mrs. Potton used to serve in this historic home.

Originally kept in the Potton family, the house was purchased in 1975 with a grant from the Dora Roberts Foundation and the Tourist Development Council of the City of Big Spring. Guests can explore this historic gem and learn about the fascinating history of the Potton family and their contributions to the community.
