"Of note - we have not stayed here. I am sure it lives up to all the photos and reviews. I have no doubt everything is spot on. This review is in regards to how our reservation was canceled without any response. We have been waiting for a special occasion to stay at Spoon Mountain Glamping. This place has been on our bucketlist. We planned to stay for 2 nights during the April 2024 total solar eclipse. What a perfect place to stay. In April 2023, we booked the 2 nights. Pricing was clearly adjusted for the 2024 Eclipse event, which we gladly paid. 50% deposit was paid. In September 2023, I received a refund of the deposit and a generic email saying our reservation had to be canceled and a meager 30% discount for a future stay was offered. 6 months before such an event, you can imagine we could not book anywhere else to stay without paying thousands of dollars. I contacted Spoon Mountain on their instagram - the social media person responded and said they would forward my inquiry to the correct people. I also emailed back asking why this was happening. No response at all. I honestly, don't really need to know the details of why the booking was canceled. Maybe they want to charge more, maybe we needed to book more days, maybe they have friends/family you want to give the unti to. It doesn't matter but a genuine phone call letting us know would have been appreciated. We get it, circumstances change. I realize we are just one potential customer so maybe the loss is not so great. But we live in the Austin area and we enjoy quick nearby trips but this isn't going to be a place we'll try to book again. 10/23/23 Edit: Ken, the owner, called me personally on 10/18/23. He was very apologetic for the cancellation and the lack of response. It sounds like some things will change operationally on the back end which makes me happy to hear. He offered our original reservation back. We declined due to making backup plans to stay with friends who are in the path of totality. He did offer us a stay for another 2 nights which we plan to take them up on. I will change the review to 3 stars for now and hope to update it to 5 after our stay. 1/12/24 Edit: Ken and Yvette are lovely hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Spoon Mountain. It is as lovely as the photos show. We felt like we were far away. The welcome snacks and water were very welcomed. Everything is beautiful and well laid out. We spent most of Saturday enjoying the tent and it's amenities. Hubs wanted to watch a playoff game and the internet is spot on. The cold snap happened on the second night and considering we were in a tent, it was quite comfortable. There are plenty of heating and cooling devices. This has been a bucket list place and we are very glad to have enjoyed it. Note to future stayers - the property feels secluded but it not that far from the main road. It's a weirdly busy road so you can hear a lot of auto traffic. There is an Alexa in the tent so you can create a sound machine. We forgot our normal sound machine which is a bit louder. There's also a little rooster who defintely greeted us earler than we wanted, multiple times. If you are a light sleeper bring your equipment to block out sound!"
