"We have a family friend that speaks highly of this place so we were encouraged to bring our car due to pan gasket leak. It is 2008 528i BMW. The dealership cost was $1980+. He stated that he needed to remove the shield at the bottom to know where it is leaking and advised to drive it the whole week. He didn't say anything about a $100 cost to do so. We drove the car for a week and brought it back. We then waited for his call after his inspection what the cost would be. His rate is 110 an hr comparable with dealership 220+. So we should at least save half but that was not the case. His charge was $1550. We planned to pick up the car but since it is a drive to get there and our respect to our friend who brought us there, my spouse said to just get it fix. Yes, we are partly to be blame on this decision. We then went ahead with our out of town weekend and came back Monday. Texted him that we are on our way to pick up the car, he then said that because the car was sitting all weekend that they came Monday morning that they notice a leak by the transmission with a matching picture. Now, the transmission is also leaking after having the car all weekend. With him saying this I asked what is the warranty on these repairs and he said 1yr for parts and 3 months for labor. I then stated, no. Don't fix it anymore and we will just pick up the car. He then stated if I make the labor warranty a year, will I get it fix? Since we are already out for $1550 I just went ahead and said to go and fix it. My guess was he didn't finish working on the pan gasket after 3 days that the car is not ready to be picked up by us Monday morning coming from the airport. Instead another leak happened that will extend the day for them to work on it on top of me getting charge for a trans leak. Is he good? Maybe but definitely BMW was not his specialty. I saved $400 from my original quote is what he said but then I told him I lost the 2 yrs warranty that BMW had on parts and the 3 yrs on labor and that, my friend is worth more than $400 on top of getting an additional charge for trans pan leak. He said no shop will give you that long of warranty so I sent him the pics and that was the end of my conversation with him. Lessons learned, go with your instinct and have someone fix that knows BMW. Definitely not coming back."
