"Tired of Dr's just wanting to take my money , cost me 75.00 for a visit and nothing to relieve my pain. Treat me as if I am not in pain, I wished they could just touch me and feel the pain my whole body is in, when it hurts to sit , walk or lay down. All they want to do is injections so they can get more money and can't tell you if they will work or not! Well, I don't have the money to try something that may will work or may not. What are you supposed to do when you are in pain and you can't afford these high dollar injections that may not work?? Someitimes think it would be better to just end it and I won't have pain anymore! If I wasn't in pain I would spend what little bit of money I have to see a Dr. Just a waste of my money and time!"
"Emily is the greatest. From the minute I met her she had the biggest smile and was so friendly, yet very professional and made sure she made the necessary notes for Dr. Berlin. Emily is so sweet, I just brighten up when she comes in the room. She’s the best. Judie Cox"
"Dr. Berlin is the most rude, unprofessional doctor that I have ever encountered! This was my first time seeing him. I am new to Texas, and in need of a pain management doctor. He is very nasty, rude, dismissive and has horrible bedside manner. He made me feel like I was nothing because I was in pain and needed a pain doctor. I had major back surgery, and have legitimate pain issues. He will treat like you are a nothing off of the street. His staff is just rude as he is! I was told by one of the people in the waiting room that he has lost plenty of patients because of his nasty attitude. Please use your insurance or money elsewhere!"
"As a former patient of Dr. Cottingham (a previous partner of the practice that moved to a different state - pretty much the kindest doctor I have ever had), I didn't necessarily feel beholden to staying on as a patient within the Optimal Pain practice. After asking several nurses at a couple of surgery centers around town (I was having surgery due to other, unrelated health issues), I was greatly encouraged. Every nurse had positive things to say about Dr. Berlin both personally and professionally - which was not necessarily true for every doctor about whom I inquired with the nurses (lol). I decided to schedule and was able to get in to see his PA, Shawnda, within 2 or 3 days. She was kind, attentive, thorough, & genuinely listened to me; she made me feel as though I had a voice. I have counterintuitively found, that empathy and compassion are not always standard in a pain management doctor's office. But Shawnda immediately sent an emergency referral to a surgeon of MY choice, so that I could get in ASAP. I appreciate that Shawnda recognized that there was no point in me wasting more time and money to come back to see Dr. Berlin for him to give the same opinion as hers... again - doing what was right for me rather than fleecing my insurance company (and me) for the cost of another office visit. When the surgeon I ORIGINALLY chose did not work out for me, Dr. Berlin's office did not write me off as someone else's problem. His medical assistant, Paige, worked quickly to get me in to see another surgeon. While I still have not seen Dr. Berlin - my mom (who was also a Cottingham patient) has had a couple of procedures with him. She has only good things to say and has been very happy under his care. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me for the efficiency & care of the staff; ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for Dr. Berlin from my mom!"
"I would highly recommend Dr. Berlin and his office to any member of my own family. Thru 15 years of severe back pain, procedures & surgeries as well as moves every 2-3 years Dr. Berlin is by far the best Pain Management doctor I have ever seen! Both Dr. Berlin and his staff are extremely knowledgeable in their field &.have.an incredible bedside manner that unfortunately many doctors & their staffs in this speciality severly lack these days! He truly treats his patients like members of his own family, and when dealing with extreme, chronic pain that's the best way to gain our trust. He will flat out tell you if certain procedures probably will not work instead of just wanting to be able to bill for them as the majority of other doctor in this field do! I truly can not say a single bad thing about Dr. Berlin and his staff! For once in my 15 yrs of dealing with this Degenerative disc disease and the pain/procedures associated with it, I do not absolutely dread going to the doctor's office. Thank you Dr. Berlin! You have a patient for life!! ♡"
