Harold's Chicken Of Monee

"I placed 2 orders here and I didn’t realize until it was too late that it was spoiled. It had a really bad metallic taste and smelled really bad. It was also slightly discolored(darker). I instantly felt sick after the 1st bite which is what prompted me to examine the whole order. Several pieces were spoiled with the exception of a few that didn’t have the smell. I can’t imagine not knowing that it was spoiled prior to cooking it because the odor became pretty strong . Update to response: I most certainly do know what spoiled food smells like and food poisoning feels like , I’m a Nurse in addition to being serve safe certified so there is no knowledge to seek. I still have the order and it will be returned today. It had a pungent odor and metallic like taste. Why would I give you 1 star on food but 5 stars on service makes no sense. I’m only documenting my experience in which I usually do rather good or bad . Based upon a few previous reviews although not many I’m not the only or first person that this has happened to. In addition my order was 2 four piece wing dinners since it was previously stated that I didn’t state what I ordered ."

"Finally made it to Harold's... They do not disappoint. I grabbed wings, perch and fries, it's not expensive, it's not fancy or complicated, it's just straight forward, to the point, good fish and chicken. I'd put this one step higher than JJ Fish and Chicken. I suggest ordering ahead because it does take a few minutes to get orders out because everything is made to order (well worth the wait)"

"I don’t like giving bad reviews but last night was the last time I will be there. I called in to place an order and whoever took my order had it right over the phone. I always get sauce on my food I came in yesterday got home and it was only sauce on my fries. I asked was there a way for them to remake the food due to it not being made right. I owner told me it was no so I told him just give me my money back for the food. He wanted to argue and show out in front of people back in my days I would have went off cursing and acting stupid but I stayed calm until he gave me my money. Hey tried to tell me it was sauce on the food I explained it was no sauce on the food and his worker just put that on there when I walked in the restaurant I don’t like playing games with people when it comes to my food. He keeps waving his hand all over my food at that point I don’t want it he showing out for his customers inside the restaurant saying it’s doesn’t make sense u wanna bring the food back and it has sauce on it just playing a game. I told the man I have no need to get back out my house to come and argue about something that was wrong. The tickets says no sauce very unpleasant and very unprofessional. Something is wrong with him and his lying workers the woman had just put the sauce on there making it seem like it was sauce on the food. I just won’t come back. I’m not about to argue with no one when it comes to my food. He told me he couldn’t remake it I have been coming there for a min spending lots of money I will never be back. He was very rude and I was like give me my money back that it that’s all. Saying something is not adding up i was like don’t ever in your life try and say something is wrong with me something is wrong with u and your lying employees I will never be back so I agree with someone of u all it’s horrible when u try and support a black business and they wanna play games well I’m not the one to play games with. Trust me all he was gone do is call monee when it got out of hand I feel like I handled it well and spent my money else where"

"I ordered a 1/2 white meal on 11/25/2023 and when I got home and started to eat it, I realized it was not fully cooked through. As disgusting as that is I understand things like that can happen. I called in & spoke with someone who told me they could remake it if I come back up there. Well the restaurant is 25 minutes from my home so I didn’t have the time to drive back up there before I went to work. I asked the gentleman if he could put my name & number down for me to come pick it up at a later time. On 12/23/2023 I called to receive my replacement order but they couldn’t find any record of me. Things like this are frustrating because this place is not cheap & now my money was just wasted. I was understanding to the situation at first but now I am just frustrated because I feel like my name was never written down to begin with."

"Now if have you been following me for a while you'd see that Harold's has problems all over the city of Chicago. Today I'm checking out the one in monee since I'm in the area. Hopefully they'll be better than the rest. Customer Service: Placed an online order they called within minutes and let me know that they didn't have any liver. We opted for double gizzards. I got there 20 minutes later and the food was ready. No hassle & the staff was friendly. 5/5 Gizzard Dinner: Appearance - To be honest they don't look appetizing. They look to be lightly fried & the breading is pale because of it. There's plenty there though so for $7.50 this could easily feed 2-3 people. Comes with bread on the bottom & a healthy amount of thick, straight cut fries. 3/5 Taste - Thank God for lemon pepper. The gizzards are a bit rubbery & tougher than normal, but the flavor definitely saves this. Maybe find some way to tenderize the gizzards better or let it fry a bit longer. I feel like I could eat these all day if they were prepared better. 3/5 Wings & Catfish Dinner: Appearance - Just like the gizzards the chicken was lightly fried leaving somewhat pale breading. The catfish was a perfect golden brown albeit fried a little too hard as the fish has been turned into a fish stick. 3/5 Taste - Great fish, superb chicken. The lemon pepper seasoning really stands out & take this over the top. You can't go wrong with anything here, but the chicken is a clear winner. 5/5 Overall this is the best Harold's I've been to. Nice spacious restaurant for sitting down in, great food & the customer service is there (something which almost every Harold's is tremendously lacking in.) Too bad it's all the way out in the middle of nowhere otherwise I could see myself stopping by occasionally. 4 out of 5 stars"
