"TLDR: Bait and switch pricing, awful re-heated food, sketchy customer service. I'm a son of Indian immigrants. This is the worst Punjabi food I've ever had. Takeout order to share with my elderly mom - she saw the sign from Rt 21; she was heartbroken and had digestive issues from the 'food'. Food: - We ordered mattar paneer and dal makhani, and asked for light on the spice. The woman we spoke to snarkily replied that both dishes were not spicy. - Mattar paneer is my favorite Punjabi dish - I've had it 100s of times, and this was the spiciest version I've had, to the point of overwhelming all other minimal flavor from the curry. - Dal makhani was not spicy, but was stale, had a bitter aftertaste and just plain tasted bad. - Roti tasted like chalky cardboard, even when warm. - Raita tasted more bitter than all other raita sides I've had. - My mom ordered dahi puri. - Potato + channa filling tasted like congealed chalk. - Dahi (yogurt) was too sweet. - Green chutney was an overload of mint with a hint of coriander. We ended up throwing much of it out, which in the Indian culture, is a major taboo. But every restaurant messes up, has a bad day etc. Right? Right? Service / pricing: - Website prices are lower by at least 2-4 dollars than actual. When I asked why the total was higher, I was informed that the real price is updated when the entree is added in their online order system. Classic bait and switch gouging - I didn't order online, I ordered by phone. - When I confronted the person manning the front desk about this, she smirked, shrugged her shoulders (probably the same smug woman who took the phone order). - They forgot to put the roti order in the bag, and that smirking woman had to run to my car as I was driving away. One last point - look at the number of 1-star reviews in the last 1-2 years. Many of them are from people of Indian descent. Trust us, we know our cuisine. Also note that not a single person associated with this location has responded to the negative reviews - not the owners or any other staff. They don't care. Happy to charge more than other Indian restaurants in the area, serve low-quality re-heated junk, and laugh all the way to the bank. Drive a little longer - bunch of other better Indian spots within a few miles."
"They recently added items like chips and salsa and fried calamari, which takes away from the authenticity (in my opinion). I've never seen an Indian restaurant offering these food items. That being said the lamb biryani is fantastic. They're also very good about handling allergies. We have celiac, nut and seafood allergies and we've never had any issues with the food."
"So , today we thought that we will have Hakka noodle and chili Paneer dish. And here is our experience:- 1. Instead of chili Paneer, received tofu dish of some sort. 2. The Hakka noodles we very stale, as if a day old ( or older). 3. The quality of food was very poor and quantity was very less. It was a home delivery but both the dishes boxes were half empty. This was something really new. I have never seen this before. Now , we thought that we should try to call the restaurant and ask inform at least. Review of customer service is as follows:— 1. Getting connected to them was a challenge. We got there after trying 4 times. They don’t answer phone. 2. The person who answered the phone was simply unwilling to listen to us and our concerns. 3. We were then connected to there Chef. When we told him that we got tofu instead of paneer he said - “ we just did not like the food “, and tone was very non serious. 4. When we told the chef that the Hakka noodles were stale , he giggled at us . So the complaint just fell on deaf ears. My experience is that exorbitant prices are not guarantees for “quality food “. Food is extremely sub par quality. But, customer service is a huge disappointment. thank you for read."
"Amazing food and superb atmosphere and great service. One of the best food I had in Chicago. Must visit once, it bit pricey compared to other Indian restaurants but food is worth it. Satisfied with food n service. Will visit again soon"
