Reviews of Sparks Tire & Auto
"Great service from Phil at Sparks Tire and Auto. He had my new tires on in no time. Definitely recommend letting Phil work on your vehicle!"
"I have another normal mechanic, but he wasn't available so I took my car here for an oil change. Super friendly, but when I picked my car up they told me my brake pads needed to be replaced right away and how they wouldn't pass inspection etc etc. They quoted me $1,200 to replace them and I felt pressured to set up a payment plan, but that price didn't sit right with me. I said no thanks and took my car to my normal trusted mechanic. He said my break pads still had 6+ months left of wear on them depending on how harshly I ride them and quoted $600 for the same work to replace them. Every mechanic I tell the $1,200 price tag Sparks quoted me to is appalled at how expensive the quote was. I won't ever bring my car back and if you get a huge quote for work from Sparks I highly recommend a second opinion before agreeing to their payment plan."
"I'm so disappointed. I've been going to Sparks over a decade, but it seems like a different place now. I dropped my van off last week, and was told it should be ready friday. My van needed a lot of work, and when they hit me with the total, I was a bit sticker shocked. I didn't see it all itemized, but I trusted them (1st mistake). They finished the van today (following Monday), and sent me an itemized invoice. They charged me $175 to clean a K&N air filter. I could have bought 2 and a half brand new ones for that. Over $300 for a battery? They told me I needed a new serpentine belt, but they also replaced the tensioner as well (about $700 for a belt job?). I was disappointed when I looked over the bill, but I decided to bite the bullet and just accept I've been taken for a ride. I called them to make a payment (I needed to split between 2 cards, as the bill was almost $5000), so they sent me 2 invoices that I promptly paid at 1:30. At 3:05 I get a text that I need to pay, or they won't leave the car outside for me to pick it up. I texted back immediately (time stamp 3:06) "Is already paid, can you please lock the key in it so I can pick it up tonight?" No response... I text back around 4:15, "I'm showing both payments hit both my cards, I hope it's showing up on your end..." Nothing... So at 7:30, I pack the kids in the car, and head up to pick up my wife from work. We arrive at Sparks a little over an hour later, and guess what? No van! That was the last straw for me. This place has terrible service. I trust that the techs do their jobs well, they just charge out the nose, and nickel and dime you to death. Then, they can't even check a text message a minute after they text you. I don't trust them anymore, and I don't think I'll ever go back. *Update after owner response* Thanks for trying, but it's easy to pass the buck onto another company for your screw up. An official cleaning kit from k&n costs $25 from AutoZone, not the $50 you charged me (30% markup would be crazy, but understandable... 100% markup is robbery). Seems like a quality part from the original manufacturer isn't quality enough for you. So it's $125 in labor for an air filter... Ntm I brought it in to get emissions to pass due to a CEL, yet you didn't even emissions test it... I'm just saying you lost 4 customers after this blunder, some of which have wasted 10's of thousands at your scam shop. I'm sure plenty of people will give you 5 stars for a discount, but that ain't happening here. Good luck in all your future endeavors! P. S. To be clear, I feel like what you charged for the struts, the brake job, the EVAP solenoid, and oil change were fair (a little high, but fair), it's the sheer amount of little nonsense that pissed me off. The $175 air filter cleaning, the $50 to calibrate safety systems, the $700 serpentine belt service, the $300+ battery replacement, plus more is what gets me. There are no self driving, smart cruise control, or any systems other than abs that require any kind of "calibration", and the abs only requires it if you replace tires with a different rolling diameter, or replace wheel speed sensors. I don't work as a mechanic anymore, but I know bs when I smell it. I don't have a lot of money, and I don't need to be taken advantage of by a sales team that focuses on maxing out profits over what a car actually needs. If you want people to push a ridiculous amount of unneeded "services" on you, this is the place."
"I was recommended to Sparks from another shop, which I thought was a good sign right off the bat. I needed to get help with my German auto, and did not think it would be so hard to find one, but I was directed to Sparks and they were able to get my problem fixed. They also provided me with a loaner while my car was being worked on, which was very helpful to me. Some work is still needed, but for now everything works and runs great! Even took a trip to Chicago and had no issues at all. Will be returning for other automotive needs for sure."
"Sparks was recommended to us for their honesty and service so we decided to give it a try. Breaks/ rotors needed replacing and they were quick and efficient. I hope our cars stay out of the shop but it’s nice to know we have a place that will take care of us."
