"Wow. All I can say is wow. This place is fantastic. I stopped in for a caffeine jolt before heading out for the day. Because I am difficult, I didn't order off the menu. The barista made a double short latte with a smile and expertise. The shop was crowded with other friendly patrons looking for coffee, bikes, or bike repairs. Later that afternoon, I stopped back in and enjoyed a few craft beers, poured by the owner himself, Colin. I work in alcohol distribution, so I can say with some authority that this is the best craft beer selection in 50 miles. Colin goes as far as meeting with beer reps in St. Louis to make sure he has the best for his customers. The family-friendly atmosphere makes me want to bring my kids with me the next time I go. You will find us on the patio out back enjoying some brews and the open air. I also got some excellent advice on what repairs to do on my son's bike. My friend actually bought two bikes while there because the prices, selection, and customer service were so superior. I really regret buying a bike for my daughter from Target. I will never buy another bike from anywhere else. I even overheard Colin call another bike shop some 80 miles away and ask them to help a woman who had called him that was too far away for him to help. Moreover, the shop is set in the absolutely delightful town square of Winchester, IL. Around the square is a bowling alley, barber shop, and a phenomenal little market, among other attractions. There was a bike race and fun run taking place in the square that day (no surprise, the owner of Rural Cyclery was volunteering to help along with his wife and children). If you are thinking about buying a new bike or repairing one you already own, stop in for a coffee or beer or both and chat with one of the helpful staff. I can't recommend Rural Cyclery enough."
