Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers

"They contacted me and I revisited the location. It was 100% different. The food was cooked well and the atmosphere was friendly. The old review is still down below and I had it 1 star. I was surprised it was that much better. The manager there was actually out and about talking to people, even was offering to move tables together to get large parties to be able to sit with each other. Much better experience, thank you! I used to love Freddy's but it was just awful, rather just go to Wendy's or McDonald's now. The cheese on my fries were old and the employees were all dancing to music, that shouldn't be played."

"Cheese was old and barely on the fries. The cooks were playing music on their phone that was very inappropriate with a bunch of customers. Really going down hill."

"I wish I could give negative reviews for this. The burger was nasty tasting, and the patties were see through. The fries got cold really quickly, which is fine, but it's made worse because they are shoestring fries. I took just the one bite of this burger, and I don't feel safe eating anymore. Afterwards my hands smelled really bad, just from touching the burger patties to take the pictures."

"Avoid this place at all costs. Went there today for the first time. I was excited because the vibe gave me a Steak n Shake feel from back when it was decent (I used to LOVE Steak n Shake). Literally THE WORST food I have had in a long time. The burger was dry and overcooked and had a "fishy" smell. I got cheese fries. The fries were decent but the cheese sauce was rancid. Needless to say all of it ended up in the garbage. The only saving grace was the wife's onion rings which were actually really good. Absolute waste of money."

"We lived in Las Vegas for several years which is where we originally discovered the Freddy’s chain. They were out favorite spot for fast food - perfectly seasoned fries, fresh tasting burgers, fun dessert options. When we moved back to IL a few years ago, we were excited to hear that there was now a Freddy’s in Crystal lake. We tried them for lunch one day and while not bad, found their food more lack-luster compared to the LV locations. Today we decided to try them again for dinner thinking our first experience was a bad day - we were wrong. This time the burger was dry/over cooked, the fries were burnt to hell and the cheese curds tasted like burnt oil (confirmed when we saw the bottom of the container). The cheese curds were also half full so you’re not getting what you pay for. Overall disappointed in this location and don’t plan on coming back. We don’t see this spot lasting very long if this is the quality they’re serving"
