About the Nobu's
Nobu's, located at 6253 Delmar Boulevard in University City, Missouri, is a modern yet cozy restaurant offering traditional Omakase-style sushi in a warm and contemporary setting. Founded nearly 40 years ago by Nobu and Taeko Kidera, Nobu's has become a beloved favorite in St. Louis, known for its classic Japanese cuisine.
At Nobu's, Chef Nobu and his son George focus on preparing classic sushi in the simple, old-world style that Chef Nobu grew up with in Kobe, Japan. The menu features a variety of nigiri, sashimi, makimono, and classic Japanese dishes, all made with fresh ingredients sourced from artisan farms and fish markets both in Japan and Missouri.
The restaurant's design blends modern elements with rustic Japanese craftsmanship, featuring natural woods, custom tables, and earthenware textures. Guests can enjoy Chef Nobu's sushi-making up close at the bar, or book a private table for a more intimate dining experience.
With a curated selection of sake, natural wine, and artisan Japanese whiskeys, Nobu's offers a unique and unforgettable dining experience for those looking to savor traditional Japanese flavors in a comfortable and inviting atmosphere.

Reviews of Nobu's
"ACTUAL JAPANESE FOOD!! I like American-style sushi, but when I want authentic Japanese cuisine, I go here. Update for new location: the omakase was amazing! I love the new vibe, how open and bright the dining space is, the service was great, the food was literally the best seafood I've had in Missouri, and the plating was beautiful. It's literally only 3 people in the kitchen--the Nobu family--so reservations are necessary. Plan ahead and you will be rewarded with the best Japanese food in the city."
"Nobu's transformation from a sushi restaurant to an omakase-style dining experience is quite remarkable. The interior design is stunning with its coastal charm blended seamlessly with a traditional Japanese aesthetic. The tasting menu is exceptional, showcasing the finest quality fish and precise cuts that left me satisfyingly full—a rarity in my omakase experiences. However, a word of caution about the steep alcohol prices; even a standard Sapporo comes with a hefty tag. An incident worth mentioning involved a wine recommendation—a Chardonnay priced at $25 per glass on the menu that turned out to be $50 when the bill arrived, due to an outdated menu. This oversight led to an uncomfortable end to an otherwise delightful meal. Nonetheless, for those in St. Louis seeking sushi that surpasses the ordinary, Nobu's is a destination that promises to deliver."
"Went there with my sister, who works there, best meal experience ever! It was so much fun! The server timed the plates such that we didn't lose focus on the food trip we went on, of which every plate was fantastic, luxurious, authentic. I got a cold sake on the side to sip on between bites, perfect for the meal. I will keep going back for sure."
"Dined in at the sushi bar for the six course omakase dinner. All of the food was meticulously prepared and the fish was incredibly fresh and high quality. Everyone there was friendly and attentive and were excited to share stories about the dishes, their family, and Japan. Some big highlights from the dinner were the grilled black cod (a real showstopper), the eel (a personal favorite), and the various fish in the mustard sauce. Everything paired well with their interesting selection of sakes and Japanese wine. My only minor complaint is some dishes were a little heavy on the wasabi, which was often nicely grated fresh right before serving. The six-course feast is an expensive meal but it is certainly a worthwhile and unique experience and so far the best sushi I have had in St Louis."
