"I have a lot to say now that I moved out so bear with me. Living at Calais was a 4/10 experience for me. The neighborhood felt safe except for two times that these guys tried to break into the cars in my area. My neighbors installed a ring camera and were the ones who told me about the occurrence, even after they notified the front office, who should have notified us in the first place. The maintenance was fast in responding to maintenance requests and did a good job. The problem was that I had a bug problem for the majority of the time that I lived there. I’m talking 10/12 of the months. I lived in a 1 BR/1 B at $1200 on average per month. It started with little roaches then it turned into sugar ants, then spiders, then gnats, and I’ve never stopped dealing with it. I had to literally have my mom call and talk to the manager for them to listen to me. Sunshine was respectful at first, but she told me that I didn’t let them know about the problem when in reality I would submit multiple maintenance requests and left multiple angry voicemails to the front office. They will always try to find a way to blame you for situations. They kept having people come spray my apartment (which gave me HORRIBLE allergies) and the problem wasn’t going away. You would think they would try another solution? Finally, in May, they decided to deal with it, which is way too late for me (I still had bugs after this FYI). The thing is, I’ve lived in student living for most of my time in college and I had problems with my apartment of course. However, the problems were understandable considering the buildings were so old and I would pay $500 to live in those apartments. I paid $1200 a month to live here to have a constant pest problem. It’s disgusting and honestly I am such a clean person so it made it even more frustrating. I have talked to my neighbors and they have not had a problem with this. Sunshine, the manager, told me that someone lived in my unit for 3 years and never reported pests. That was so wrong and hurtful of them to tell me; I felt like my problems weren't taken serious because the previous tenant didn't have the same issues. Shame on her for saying that to me. I should not have had to deal with this problem in the first place, considering how much I was paying for rent. I was also charged 260 in move out fees for "urine stains" in my carpet and a cleaning fee. There is no way there was urine in my carpet, I have a cat who has never in her 5 years peed outside of a litter box. If a cat peed outside of the litter box, you can smell it because of the ammonia. I called about the fees and Sunshine answered the phone with an attitude from the jump, probably because I wasn't a tenant anymore so she didn't have to fake being nice to me. She told me I couldn't smell the pee because I'm probably immune to it. I mean c'mon! They sent me pictures of stains so it was hard to argue on my end, but I just know that there was no urine. After all the issues I had with the pests, they never stopped pushing. I told her that when I moved in, I vacuumed first thing. There was a bunch of white dog hair in the vacuum, so I told her that the pee could be from the previous tenant's dog. She said they didn't have a dog, when I clearly had vacuumed up so much dog hair (they probably don't vacuum before new tenants move in). They probably just didn't say they had a dog to avoid a pet fee? I should have taken a picture of the fur. In conclusion, if you’re going to spend the money I would sign somewhere else. Your problems will be ignored and they will gaslight you so they don’t have to deal with it on their end. There’s so many nicer and cheaper apartments in Lubbock. I’m so so happy to be done with Calais!"

"I have lived at Calais for 4 years now and if I could give a 6 star rating I would. Sunshine has gone above and beyond to make our apartment experience feel like home. Communication is great and maintenance is fast. The community is filled with friendly and wonderful people. If Lubbock is a temporary location or your forever destination Calais is a great place to be."

"The team over at Calais at Elm Park are fantastic. They were very accommodating over the two years that I lived there. Very quite and friendly neighbors. Great access to the dog park as well! If you ever needed anything, the ladies running the office as well as maintenance were very fast at responding and helping. Made renewing my lease as well as moving out a breeze and didn't slow up my moving process one bit. Thanks for a great two years in Lubbock! Made my time very enjoyable."

Always there for anything/everything you need! The property is always taken care of and just beautiful. The units are gorgeous and cozy with plenty of space. Hands down the BEST place to rent in Lubbock!"
