"First time ordering, I had called in a pickup order for two pizzas, they had told me it would take 40 minutes. I arrived a little early but there was a long line so I had to wait. After getting my pizza and going home, I realized it was cold, burnt, and pie cut. We were so hungry we just microwaved it and called the place back. A woman on the phone told me we could bring it back in and I explained that my kids were so hungry they already started eating it, I was just letting them know I was upset about the quality for spending $50+ and having to throw it in the microwave as soon as I pick it up. She said that it was fine and I could come back in and she would remake the pizzas without the old ones. Adding it would only take 20 minutes, different to the 40 I was told the first time. Upon arrival I got told the pizzas were never put in and I was just trying to get free pizzas and they needed my old ones which I explained over the phone my children had eaten part of. We got in an argument because I would have never came if they didn't tell me to drive back there. After trying to fix their mistake they started accusing me. They eventually threw the pizzas in and said we must have had a miscommunication. Honestly worst customer experience of my life and the pizza wasn't even good when they didn't burn it. Im never ordering from here again."
"Place is declining and going downhill really quick. Place is really run down. Food quality down the drain and at the same time prices always higher. Pizza slices up $1.20 a slice and also smaller of a portion. Customer service is as rude as it gets. Good luck to all the workers there that most likely will be out of a job in the near future. What a shame, this used to be a beautiful place ."
"Visiting Chicago in Nov’ 23 and stopped by Village Inn in Skokie, near Chicago. Came here with family who in this case was cousin. You can see in pictured photo if curiosity bites. But if not then that is OK as well. Essentially I dug the vibes of VI more than its food/drinks. Very cool atmospheric remote and low key vibe, like village-bar-town vibes which was pretty outta this world. Nice and cozy and great bar to hunker down in the cold of early winter this close to Chicago, IL — I think it was mid 40s but very windy out, nice to be inside on an evening like that. So run down of what we had, some drinks, beer, dark lager, whatnot, all above 8% BAC so I got decently hammered early on. Chicken quesadilla with guacamole and tomatoes and that was pretty spot on. Wasn’t too hungry so we just had some apps/starters and drinks. Like I said I got pretty drunk and this was a bare necessity at the time, so VI was satisfactory given the aim was to get sufficiently hammered enough at close to midnight on a Friday windy winter night. So for atmosphere and ability to get as wasted as I wanted to without a care in the world really, I’ll rate up for being able to scratch that itch or whatever. Nice village bar vibes, yo. I might be back hopefully once again the future, who the heck really knows."
"okay first off I would like to order a pizza exactly like what was given to Catherine Balistreri's bad review with too much garlic on it. I think I would LOVE that! okay but seriously, this is a nice place it's been around forever. I love the old neon sign, I wish I knew how old it was. my family knew the previous owner. you can order single slices to go, but may I suggest if you're in the mood, go ahead and order a whole pizza. a slice of cheese was less than 3.50 I think and a whole pizza is about 16? I forget. it is so much better when it's fresh and comes right out of the oven. anyways we came here on a whim I just felt like having pizza today. the staff was wonderful and helpful and friendly like always. I probably would have ordered dessert if I found a menu but we were so busy talking about the pizza with each other that I forgot. Our group of four just ordered two slices, it smelled so good to our visiting family who just wanted to see the place, I had to go back in and buy the rest of our group slices also. we just had cheese pizza. I ordered their largest pizza before with all kinds of toppings and it was marvelous. there's all kinds of activities going on here like a magician on Wednesdays and karaoke on Sunday nights and there are televisions everywhere. it's really a true sports bar as well. everything was nice and clean, even the outside. we visited on a late Sunday afternoon and nobody was sitting outside so we just took a table with our carryouts and Saturday and nobody asked us to leave or anything which was nice. I haven't had pizza probably in months and this was a real treat for me. I should come back more often."
