"Everything on the plate was intentional and added to the overall taste. Absolutely balanced and delicious! It's a great atmosphere, and the servers were well trained. I wish it had been 25% cheaper because the cost will prevent me from visiting as often as I'd like to. It seems like the kind of place you'll have a fantastic experience with every visit."

"The fried green tomatoes were excellent as is the ambience….but I ordered French onion soup as it was listed by the server as one of the specials of the day. I neglected to ask the price (not in the menu) and imagine my surprise getting a giant bowl of soup and then getting the bill of $18 for soup. Sadly the soup was not to my taste either. Had a sweetness to it that I would not expect from French onion. I wish the server would have communicated to me the scale/price of this soup which is way more than one person could eat (even if I had liked it). I don’t think the picture truly conveys how big this bowl was but including it anyway"

"I really wanted to like this place, especially after driving 2 hours to get there. The building and the grounds are really beautiful and impressive. I was looking forward to trying either the halibut or something from the brunch menu, as our reservation was for noon on a Sunday, but upon our arrival we were informed that due to our large party we would be restricted to a smaller menu, even though it was not all on one check. Very odd practice. For the prices we should have been blown away, but I can honestly say most of our party was unhappy with the food. Well done burgers came out raw, watered down bloody Marys, over salted fries. I ordered the grilled chicken Caesar salad and one of the two breasts was almost completely gristle. I will include a photo, it was the one on the left. The one on the right had a small piece broken off and missing from the lower tip, which I thought was odd. I feel like we may have had a little better experience had our party been allowed to choose different dishes. Over all a major disappointment with a hefty price tag. Edit* I'm not going to argue with the owners, but I will say that I'm surprised and disappointed with this portion of their response. Not only is it completely false but it also attempts to shift blame for poor food quality onto the guests. What a shame. "For any group over 15 guests, we require a limited menu especially during weekend hours since it’s our busiest time. The planner or the person that made reservation of your party knew these terms in advance and chose the menu with the birthday girl. I hate to hear this wasn’t communicated to you in advance as it was planned 2 weeks prior"- the owner"

"We were on our way from Carbondale to Chicago and decided to give it a try since it had chargers for out EV. This place is amazing! Tucked away in Effingham, off the beaten path. Large dining area with indoor and outdoor seating. Food was just wonderful. Service also wonderful. Huge bar. A little pricey, but worth it. Definitely keeping this place on our list of places to stop next time we go back down south. It is a MUST!"

"My wife and I stopped here while traveling back to Texas. It was definitely an excellent choice! Samuel met our needs with attention, engaged in personable conversation, knew the menu well, and contributed to our overall delightful outdoor dining experience. We enjoyed a margherita pizza and caprese soup with sweet potato pie for dessert. We will absolutely visit this establishment again while traveling."
