Reviews of Aerie's Resort in Grafton Illinois
"The skylift wasn't working so a van took us up to the Alpine coaster. My money was refunded. Had to wait ten, fifteen minutes cause the Alpine workers were helping to get the skylift going. We were given a second ride for the inconvenience. It was my first time on an Alpine coaster and I enjoyed it, but the experience was ruin cause I don't have a video. The camera wasn't working on my sled. You would think there would be a way to check the cameras."
"Great location, views and experience. We did not stay overnight. Never been to a winery with neither flights or a tasting room. Covid really is n9 excuse for not training your staff to atleast pour a small selection of flights at the very least. Very disappointed. We would have happily paid for tasters. However our little blonde waitress at the lower location was super friendly and helpful. And the woman at the top of the sky lift was funny and friendly despite the rain. Thank God for the staff or the experience would have been far worse. The duck was meh. Wouldn't order it again. Oddly the pretzel dish was the best think we tried."
"Whole experience was mid. Our room (which was supposed to be one of the best, with jetted tub and lookout views) was ok. Nothing special in my opinion. The bed matress felt old. Room decor seemed outdated. The "view" requires you to go outside the room to the deck area (which is chilly and windy in fall). The restaurant/winery has very few dinner options. The worst part is that there are no breakfast options in the whole town! Why would a tourist town not offer breakfast...or even a coffee shop!?!?I have no clue. There were two complementary packaged muffins in our room refrigerator, but other than this, the closest breakfast is the Pere Marquette Lodge. A couple positives: we had access at the overlook to see the sunrise. This resort area is gated and you are given a code to enter/park. Also, your stay duration gets you an unlimited Sky Tour wristband. Overall, not worth going back for."
"We went today for a 40th birthday party. We had 15 people. 5 of us got there when they opened to grab tables since they don’t take reservations. Held 2 tables to accommodate our group. We were having a lovely time, our waitress, Rochelle, was a rock star!!! She was kind and friendly! She worked her butt off and kept the average and overpriced food coming as well as our wine glasses full. Seriously, she was the best!!! And then some rude old man who said he was the owner came over and is why I can’t recommend this place. He was so rude and unprofessional, speaking to us like we were children. I seriously wanted to walk out he was so disrespectful to us (our group ranged from 38-75 years old). Totally inappropriate to talk to anyone, let alone customers the way he did. Because of him, I will definitely never go back or recommend this place."
"Aerie's resort was a absolute blast with the best views! We celebrated my daughter bachelorette there with taking the sky lift up, checking out the gift shop that is packed with so many awesome things, we rode the coaster which is so fun (get the 3 ride deal you won't regret it!), then we had a late lunch at the Terrace. The food was fresh, hot, and everything was delicious. We tried different wines (Blackberry was my fav.) and a few mixed drinks, and our waiter was great! I can't wait to take my fiance for a day date!"
