"I can count on Mark, our community manager to help me with any apartment issues. I like that he is welcoming in a homely manner with a business attitude. He keeps it real. The maintenance here is prompt and efficient.thwy keep me updated on any backorder parts etc. They are fabulous. I never have to ask twice or call back for something. The housekeeping keeps everything spick and span. This is a small community that cares. Perfection is Heaven, but until I get there, I am good here at Flora. I won't complain about the next best thing---nor should you.it is fabulous. I love it here."
"My experience living at Flora was mostly negative. I’ll start by saying that maintenance was quick and friendly so that was a positive. The location is also close to some nice neighborhoods to go for a walk in. Now for the negatives.. My particular unit had a water leak above the bathtub that felt like it was never ending. Maintenance was called many times for this issue but the end result was that it couldn’t be fixed and “that’s the way the 1st floor units are” according to management. I found it very difficult to sleep some nights with the water leakage noise. On another occasion, my neighbors security alarm was going off all day and I alerted management. They said “They’ll investigate.” Nothing was done by them and this was another difficult night of sleeping. Good luck getting any packages at this complex because you’re forced to pay monthly for some 3rd party to deliver packages which was extremely unreliable. The units are tiny for what you pay and there’s not much natural sunlight getting into your place. When I went through the move-out process after realizing it wasn’t the place for myself, I was charged for a dirty bathtub (From the previously mentioned leak) and also charged for tangled blinds. So, there’s a high chance you won’t get your security deposit back and be charged for damages. Overall, there’s plenty of better options in Austin."
"I didn’t expect much when I first moved in to the Flora Apt. and I didn’t expect living standards to increase when Flora was acquired by Equity Residential. It’s obvious that the staff is underpaid and overworked. If I’m not mistaken they are attempting to manage multiple properties with limited staff. (Cut costs to keep the CEO/Owners bottom line fat). (This is my speculation) when the vacancy rates rose, the front office locked the trash rooms, I assume to reduce workload on their understaffed maintenance crew. This resulted in hallways smelling foul and stains. I am an EV owner and could not charge at the apartments. Of the multiple times (2 years straight) I inquired about having them fixed, Mark Pugh felt the need to tell me how much it costs. When the new stations were finally installed, they didn’t work. Mark Pugh required EV owners to pay to park in the charging spots and pay to charge. (The new charge stations didn’t work). The most recent review by the current resident is a lie as I have spoken to her in person before I moved out about how much she doesn’t like living at Flora. (I’m Assuming they gave her a discount on rent). I can go on about the staff and Flora being underwhelming, but it’s the same issues that almost all apartments have. Overworked, under qualified, underpaid, understaffed front offices, which leads to a decline in respect from residents and then a decay in property quality. A few years go by and the current front office will be replaced and more reviews will be submitted about the poor quality of Flora Apartments. If you have options, go elsewhere, if you need to build a history of paying rent, and don’t have many options.. good luck, pay your rent on time and get out as soon as you can."
"Yeah, I wouldn't live here. It isn't worth it. When I started with Flora with previous management, it was a wonderful place under DIFFERENT management. Turn to today, there have been at least 2 management turnovers and today's management under EQR is insufficient and not knowledgable. First, management has adequately failed to protect its residents' packages on a consistent basis. For example, back in December 2023, I had at least 3 packages stolen. When I asked Mark, Flora's Manager, about the stolen packages, he explained that lack of security was an issue of the City of Austin and that police officers are not taking jobs. Clearly, such a response overlooks the fact that EQR has a duty to HIRE adequate security. But hey, it's easy to redirect blame. Second, Flora Management refuses to accomodate for the security of its residents' guests and visitors. FLORA ONLY HAS 8 SPOTS FOR GUEST PARKING IN THE GARAGE. If the amount of guests exceeds this for a particular moment, do not even invite your guests over. Flora does not even have mechanism for temporary guest parking. Additionally, management is confused about this. One associate told me that its residents were able to guest park via Register2Park and that it was in use, BUT then another associate told me that there guest parking was only confined to eight spots in the garage in an unsecured location?!?!?!?! This lack of security for guests leaves residents' guests subject to car break-in, which DO happen at Flora. Finally, the EQR has increased my rent exorbitantly. At the beginning of 2021, I was paying $1100 for a studio at Flora and now I am paying $1737 as a base pay. Bottom Line: Flora is inconsistent, and you can do a lot better."
"I have lived at Flora since 2021 and I have renewed my lease multiple times because I love living here. There are several reviews that are hard on Flora due to package delivery/theft but Mark, the Community Manager, has always been super responsive and helpful in providing documentation so that I can file a claim if a package is missing or undelivered. Mark even advocated for the removal of Fetch after an outcry for change by community members. Every community struggles with package theft, but Flora is a secure building, and I sleep well every night knowing that my building is safe. I also workout regularly in the gym provided at Flora, because our gym has real workout equipment and feels more like a boutique gym than an apartment gym. I've lost over 115 pounds since moving to Flora because this community makes healthy living so accessible. I hope Flora will continue to invest in our gym because, along with our own recording studio, this community is all about the perks."
