"Karen was our server. She was the only front staff. She did a good job being a host, bartender, and server. We ordered the egg rolls, which were yummy. My husband got the turkey o'toole sandwich and loved it. I ordered the chicken sandwich and was not impressed. The cook forgot the avocado, and my bottom bun was soggy. I do not recommend that sandwich. I got the sangria and if you like watermelon you will love it."
"Walked in and wanted to walk right back out. Got a bad vibe and the waitress looked extremely put out to have one potential customer (me) to tend to. She was unfamiliar with the menu and they were out of a basic ingredient which was needed for several drinks on the cocktail menu. Decided to leave without eating or getting a drink. First and last visit here. The remodel looks nice though. Haha!"
"Wonderful experience through and through. Came at 5pm on Sunday wanting a warm meal as our last night at the attached Holiday Inn. Seated immediately by Karen and she was wonderful whole way through. Had the spinach dip and it was incredible. Ordered a burger and grown-up grilled cheese without bacon. Came out perfect and pretty dang fast. Delicious and even got the lemon pie for desert. Was very happy and Karen was very sweet and attentive the whole time. If we come back to the area, we will dine again!"
"First time here, went for lunch at 12 noon. Inside at hostess station, no one was around. Waited & waited, finally after 15 minutes we walked out. Only saw one server in back area serving a table. We left, never going back. Recommend you pass on this place, unless you have time to waste. PS: property owner after reading my review offered an apology for this lack of service, and proposed offer to "make up for it". Although a good follow-up gesture, I choose to make all of my reviews random and for no incentives. This allows for 100% transparency for people using my reviews. I provide accurate and timely reviews because people are busy and want to know what can be expected when spending their hard earned $$$."
"It was still late morning when I was in Rock Island, looking for somewhere that does a good breakfast. A nearby location looked promising, but the wait for a table was closer to an hour. I left my name and phone number with them and started walking around the downtown. I got cold enough to want to find somewhere warm to wait for my breakfast call. I fortunately came up on Rock Island Ale House not long after. The space looks new, both inside and out. The facade features new looking brick work accented by red neon lights. The interior looks spotless - new wood laminate flooring runs through the majority of the space. A drop ceiling consisting of white 2 foot tiles runs through most of the ceiling with lighting supplied by a combination of recessed fixtures and a mix of different suspended fixtures over the high tops and tables. The bar features prominently in the center of the establishment with icicle lights around the exterior and a set of 10 beer taps on one end. As is almost mandatory with all bars in Illinois, there are also a set of video slots in the far back of the main dining room with stanchions roping off the small section. For Rock Island, it's a really nice looking space. After briefly conversing with the bartender, I settled on a bowl of chili and some fries, both of which were out to me within 10 minutes. The chili was a nice wholesome bowl - not really spicy, but had plenty of depth of flavor. The fries were thin crinkle cut and very crispy, which I very much simultaneously enjoyed and appreciated. For a cold January day, I'd definitely get this meal again! If I were back in Rock Island for something again, I might stop by for another meal here. I probably wouldn't drive all the way across the river from Bettendorf just to come here though. It's a solid addition to the Rock Island downtown, and I hope they stick around for a while. Thanks Ale House!"
