Tower 5040

"My experience at Tower 5040 only continues to get worse. I have lived here for two years and at first everything was fine, but in the past 3 months it has turned into a complete nightmare. First, I returned to my car and all of the tires were taken off. Damages on my car totaled over $600 and management did nothing to help. Multiple other cars had the tires completely stolen. When I thought it couldn’t get any worse, my car was towed from MY OWN SPOT that I pay $50 per month to reserve. I was out of town for the weekend and when I returned I thought it was stolen. I had to pay over $400 to get it back. The management was pretty helpful and I was able to get a 50% refund, but the situation was absolutely RIDICULOUS and shouldn’t have existed in the first place. There are numerous other problems with the property including my air conditioning breaking frequently, leaks in the hallways, breaking elevators, trash everywhere, and bug invasions. 99% of the good reviews on here are fake. I live in the cheapest unit in this building, and still pay over $1000 per month in rent. This is the most expensive off campus housing around UH and is also the sketchiest and trashiest. Do not listen to the good reviews and don’t fall for this overpriced trashed building unless you have thousands of dollars laying around to repair your damaged property."

"All the good reviews are because the front desk offered people gift cards if they left a good review after all the residents left bad reviews because the water was out for days and no one had come to fix it for hours. I live here and pay about 1500 a month for a two bedroom in the ghetto, homeless people have gotten in our building bc there’s no security, the elevator is always broken, people are currently getting into the garage and stealing tires off peoples cars, water outages, the two younger maintenance people are out of work amazon drivers probably, with duct tape. the front desk staff takes off for religious holidays for religions they are not apart of because they’re lazy and don’t want to work, the emergency maintenance crew does not respond no matter what the issue is they will not show up and packages get stolen."

"I had a fantastic experience living in this apartment complex. The management team was always friendly and responsive to any issues or questions I had. The maintenance staff was quick to address any maintenance requests, and the property was well-maintained overall. The location is convenient, with easy access to shopping, dining, and public transportation. The amenities, such as the pool and fitness center, were well-maintained and added to my overall enjoyment of the complex. One of the standout features of this complex is the sense of community. There were regular resident events that allowed me to get to know my neighbors and feel like part of a community. I highly recommend this apartment complex to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient place to call home."

"Pay no attention to the parents and relatives talking about how good this place is. Here’s what you need to know after living here: 1) No security to speak of — doors are constantly unlocked, and the apartment pool/hallways have been raided by non-residents more than a few times in one year (see the lovely photos attached). 2) The amenities are average. 3) The hallways are in disarray and not kept up at all — terrible carpet, bad smells, inconsistent lighting on each floor. 4) Poor build quality — we regularly have to create work requests to fix things that fall apart in our rooms from regular use, such as faucets or fans or the AC. It’s a bit of a gut punch to remember that the place is only about 3 years old after just walking down one of upper-floor hallways or filing your 7th work order request. 5) Management is non-existent and constantly changes, and they refuse to provide common-sense accommodations when you need them most, such as waiting for 5 days to fix our broken AC. 6) The rooms are well-sized and can have a good view if you choose wisely. 7) The elevators break literally every month if not every other week. That is not an exaggeration — get ready to climb a lot of stairs. 8) Do you like roaches and thin walls? What about broken exit signs hanging from the ceiling or urine in the elevators? 9) The package delivery system is great. 10) The parking: the fact that there’s a garage gate hasn’t stopped several cars’ wheels from being stolen anyway. Guest parking is complicated and small. Guests can park next door in the church parking lot for unlimited time without being towed though. Tower5040 likes to make promises and claims to you about their quality and security that are laughably far from the truth, just so you’re warned. This is probably still somehow your best (but pricey) option to live near UH, but you’re probably going to be frustrated a lot. Stay strong and good luck"
