Haven At Elgin

"This place has been my home for the last 4 months , and I couldn’t have picked a better apartment complex to live at for my first solo living experience. The office staff is amazing! All the ladies go above and beyond with any requests, and take your concerns and turn them into reassurance as quickly as they can. I cannot say better things about them! Maintenance is incredible. My fire alarm went off and the maintenance lady came quick one evening after maintenance already left for the day, The lady came from her house within 30 minutes to fix it for me. They all are on top of things! The gym is amazing and busy. I was able to train for my first marathon using that treadmill! Maintenance is pretty good when change air filters, and whatnot. Communication is great! The residents are friendly, and the grounds are always clean."

"I moved in a month ago and they made me feel at home starting from my roommates to the staff, especially Mayowa. She is so kind, helps you with all your problems in seconds. So professional while keeping it friendly."

"The Haven still has a lot to improve on. The apartments and amenities are very nice, Mayowa and the staff are always very friendly. The areas for improvement are definitely safety. For the amount they charge for rent they do not offer the standard of safety to residents they advertise. The "onsite security " is a joke. Even after multiple incidents they still just let people into the building without checking if they actually live there or not. They do not enforce their no smoking policy and the property constantly smells like marijuana to the point that my daughters apartment smells of it when they turn the bathrooms vents on and no one in her apartment smokes, There is no guest parking so visiting her for the weekend is almost impossible unless we pay for visitor parking on campus or risk having our car towed or broken into while parked on the streets around the complex. To make things even worse for anyone who resigned their lease early they will not only be charged a higher rate than they are paying now but for anyone who signs up at this point they will pay less than current tenants. The only positive for this property is the friendly office staff and the proximity to campus. At this point I would not recommend this property. Save your money and future headaches and live anywhere but the 3rd ward."

"I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm going to renew my lease. I have noticed a lot of change happening. First of all, all the maintenance are very organized and very fast. My fire alarm went off yesterday and maintenance came very quickly to turn it off. Also the apartments are very close to the schools and metros. Besides all the ups and downs that have happened I recommend renting out an apartment at Haven at Elgin and I will definitely be renewing my lease."

"This place is trashy and ghetto. They make you pay $900 for 5 roommates (including yourself) and everyone has to share everything. They don’t allow breaking of leases and only sublets and they’ve had so many problems since moving in and they’ve been deleting reviews as well. They pride themselves on luxury yet the “security guards” are always posted up smoking weed and look like they got hand picked from a selection of mall cops. They kept our August deposit and said they “credited” it to the other months but we were already promised our rent paid. The apartment itself is nice but there is lack of authority, security, and safety. Someone died on the elevator and their elevators are never working. If im paying almost $1,000 to live there then my amenities better be working. Not worth the hassle and you can find better elsewhere. DO NOT LEASE here. Hope this building shuts down. Jesus"
