"We are from out of town and when we found out that there was a Happy Joe's in Dubuque, we had to eat here. We have so many childhood memories of this place. Everything was better than we remembered. The pizza was the best pizza we have eaten. The waitress was great! She helped us with ordering and she made us up a Smores ice cream sundea which was delicious. She boxed our pizza up so it will fit in our hotel frig. We will be eating Herr again the next time we are in Dubuque."
"For me, this was a great trip down memory lane. Two decades later, the original Happy Joe specialty (Canadian bacon and sauerkraut) is still a favorite pizza for me. Finished off my meal with a delightful sundae. Some trips down memory lane don't live up to the memory. Happily, this one did."
"A good pizza joint where the locals go. Pizza was tasty. Expect to hear the squeaky horn to help celebrate the birthdays. Lots of local sponsored team pictures and food awards earned by the restaurant as voted on by the locals which was cool to see."
"Happy Joe's has always and will always have the Taco Pizza that wins all awards. They have never strayed from their original recipe. For that, they will be successful. I ordered it twice (along with other toppings on another pizza) twice in as many days. And, yes, it absolutely was worth it. The restaurant stays family friendly and has kept and old school feel which makes it special for me."
