"This is a great place to live in. Very affordable and nice building. The apartment is pretty specious, bigger than some of the one bedrooms. It has a walking closet. The window is very big which makes the apartment to have a good light. The apartment have a dishwasher and there is a laundry onsite. The neighborhood is quite and safe. It is a studio but the building design is great. It has a separated section for kitchen and also a section for bed. The owner (Don) is friendly. If there is any problem in the apt, you just need to call him and he will take care of it soon. He’s very responsive. The manager (Deanna) is also very nice and very responsive. The maintenance guys know how to fix everything and they are really nice. I really liked the Chestnut Place and I had a great time there. I’d recommend this place."
"Very friendly. Nice clean and quite. We needed an apartment the same day. The gentleman was nice friendly and very helpful. We looked at several but chose this one. Got him moved in and set up in one day. We recommend this complex."
"Nicest guy!! I happened to be in Denton on a Saturday (NO other apartments were showing AT ALL) I called and he answered! Showed up in 5 minutes and showed the apartment ON SATURDAY!! Great size! Perfect place! Super excited to move in! Thanks Mr. W!!"
"I lived here for 2 years, it was the best move for me! I had previously been at Gateway and 1451 with roommates and it still was more expensive than a studio by myself at Chestnut Place. Don White and Misty Bruce are the absolute BEST!! Don owns the place and Misty manages it. They are a cute duo and are so much fun to talk with. Rent is due on the 1st and no late fees until the 4th. Misty's office is over by Westminster apartments off I-35. I had the best time here! I had a great walk-in closet, the bedroom fit my queen sleigh bed, the living area was enough to put my couch and dining table by the wall, and the kitchen is the PERFECT size for one person. I had full-sized appliances: fridge, stove/oven, and dishwasher. NO PETS HERE. The complex is near UNT Campus and Denton Square, both maybe a 5-10min walk. You get your own parking spot and sticker, but there are only 4 visitor spots, where they need your reusable pass displayed in their window. There is a laundry room with washers and dryers (use quarters), the room also holds the mailboxes for each unit. I am so sad to leave, but my graduate program doesn't require me to be on campus anymore so there was no reason to stay in Denton any longer. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to room alone. Disclaimer: if you are sound sensitive, you may want to invest in ear plugs or somewhere else (floors and walls are thin)....just make friends with your neighbors :)"
"I have been living at Chestnut Place for 2 years and I just signed for another year in August. I want to give as accurate and fair a review as possible for anyone interested in living here. Pros: 1) Extremely affordable. Rent here is the lowest you’ll find in Denton! I’ve looked extensively, and it’s the best deal around unless you have one of those coveted Denton connections. 2) Spacious. The walk-in closet is huge, the kitchen is satisfactory, and the layout is nice! Bedroom area could fit a king comfortably. 3) Misty is the property manager (don’t know if that’s her actual title but she does all the work of a property manager) and she rocks!! She’s very helpful, understanding, kind, and a lot of fun to talk to. She’ll be your #1 advocate if you have any issues at all. 4) Close to UNT campus and Denton Square. Within walking distance. 5) Reliable and timely maintenance. To be fair, I’ve only had to request maintenance when I first moved in, so I’m not sure if that still holds. 6) Last but certainly not least, this property is NOT owned by Scott Brown!!! Anyone in Denton will tell you horror stories about that company. It’s hard to find a place that isn’t owned by them, so this complex is truly a gem. Cons: 1) Walls are paper thin. This is my biggest complaint. I share a bedroom wall with the neighbor across from me and I can hear absolutely everything they do. I’m sure they can hear me, too. I can also hear most every other neighbor around me if they’re playing music, have guests over, or are moving heavy stuff around which seems to happen a lot. I have lived in many different places and the lack of sound proofing here is pretty bad. 2) Near Fry St (bars) and Sorority houses. Again, it can get noisy around peak week and weekends. 3) If you want to have people over they’re going to have to carpool. You are allotted one parking pass which your visitor must put in their dash as well as parking in one of only four marked visitor spaces. Towing is strictly enforced here. And there is no street parking anywhere near. Overall, I have enjoyed my stay here. It’s a great option for students and people who keep to themselves and want privacy. If you’re bothered by noise or are a light sleeper it might not be the best option for you. I think there are a fair amount of pros and cons, but overall I’d say it’s definitely worth the low rent, especially if you’re working towards some financial goals. I won’t be renewing next year simply because I’d like to have a place with better sound proofing."
