"IMPORTANT: This map location is the OFFICE for Shakespeare Dallas. Plays are performed at Samuell Grand Ampitheater (search for Shakespeare in the Park). REVIEW: We're Shakespeare in the Park regulars, and have been attending every year since 1990. It's truly a Dallas entertainment standout, and the longest running outdoor Shakespeare troop in the USA (save NYC). A few tips: - The Park is always 5-10 degrees cooler than the city, especially once the sun goes down. Some Summer productions can drop into the upper 60s by the end of the play, and you'll definitely need a jacket for Fall productions. Even with 100+ degree days, it's certainly workable (see below for more warm weather tips). - Summer can be hot, until the sun goes behind the trees. An big umbrella can provide shade before the play starts. We also bring FroggTogg chilly pads (or a frozen cloth will do) to wrap around our necks. Helps a lot! - There are permanent restrooms at the Park, and an outdoor pavilion with additional cover. There are a couple rows of fixed stadium seats at the top of the bowl, nice if you need a break from the lawn. - Sand chairs (rental), hand fans, cups, cold drinks, T-shirts and other goodies are available every night. - There's plenty of room to toss a frisbee or ball around in the Park, especially in the grassy areas surrounding the ampitheater bowl. - Most plays (especially the comedies) are kid-friendly... the more colorful jokes will sail over the little ones' heads. Our kids started attending at age 6, but your mileage may vary... everyone is different, but our kids found the tragedies exciting and interesting. Shakespeare Dallas has a long history of top-notch fight scenes, and patrons always enjoy the swordplay & gun fights. - Some nights (especially weekends), you don't even need to bring food: Dallas food trucks have started to show up in the plaza! Schedules vary, so check the website or food truck sites to see which ones will be at the Park. Otherwise, Central Market, Whole Foods, and Eatzi's provide great take-out. And, if you're driving through Lakewood, you can stop at Jimmy's for wonderful sandwiches. - Try a French Rosé (they are NOT sweet, from Total Wine, Sigel's or Spec's) and chill in the freezer for 30-45 minutes before you head out. (We throw most of our wine and bottled water in the freezer before the play.) - The best exit for Samuell Grand Park is Dolphin Road off I-30. Sometimes it pays to check the Gexa Energy Pavillion schedule (or whatever the current name is) in case a concert creates traffic on I-30 exiting into Fair Park, but usually this is not an issue. - In the Fall, the city of Addison helps move the outdoor stage to Addison Circle Park, for those of you up North."
