Reviews of Centre Suites at Overton Park
"I personally don’t understand what the reviews are so bad here, I have nothing but good things to say. Fast maintenance, really close to campus, affordable, close proximity to restaurants, and it’s in a safer location than most of the other apartments like the bloc or anything close to the Walmart. I have no complaints."
"• Had an old collection here, went to pay it and was told “our client refuses to make a deal because they know how detrimental their collection is to your credit score and future housing opportunities”. This was over half a decade ago. • Worst part is the leasing manager at the time promised me they wouldn’t pursue the money because of my extenuating circumstances. So if you’re foolish enough to do business with these people get every single thing in writing because their word is worth nothing. • If you want an apartment complex that will actively and maliciously mess with your finances and future housing for the next 7 years because your room wasn’t cleaned to perfection upon move out, or whatever your case may be; this is the place for you!"
"This place is a scam. I’ve live here 5 years, and back then it was great. Terrible now- and they’re raising rent. It’s close and that’s about it. FIRE ALARMS: I see that management is saying the fire alarms are fixed, but I doubt that. In the 5 years I’ve been here, it’s always been an issue and never truly seem to be fixed. I think the last one went off a month or so ago- which isn’t exactly fixed considering they would go off for hours at a time, daily- FOR YEARS. CLEANLINESS & SAFETY: Huge no. Very central location, and not really any safety on part of the residents. The parking garage gate was “broken” open for 2 months-DURING FOOTBALL SEASON- and was just recently fixed. During this time I, myself, had to call LPD twice to report break-ins- one that I WITNESSED happening. There’s still no security cameras, it’s dark and dingy and there’s always throw up in the floors. Some places have graffiti that I’ve seen for years. The buildings aren’t secure and right across from popular bars and the stadium, so it’s pretty common to have random drunk kids wandering through the halls ripping down door decorations and throwing up at the least. Worse case scenario some random Lubbock Local is trying handled in the garage. AMENITIES: WASTE OF MONEY. Out of October alone, we have had working wifi 6 days. It’s the 25th. I’ve been given the run around, and management just doesn’t care. I get it’s “an issue with the provider”, but internet is included in the lease and charged but not fixed. Today, we had no wifi since last night and when I called the provider they said the complex didn’t report until 3PM. Seriously?? This is a STUDENT apartment! Don’t you think we need internet? The gym is outdated and a weird layout, plus everything is pretty much broken. Very small as well, about 1/ea machine so don’t count on getting a workout in at a normal time. Best time to use the ONE treadmill is 2AM.. BUT there’s no security, all of the machines face your back to the door, and it’s pretty much free access to anyone who wants to get in. Pool is pretty but only usable for 2wk/yr. Resident events are cool but focused more on new people signing leases, not the ones who already have. Computer lab used to be cool, but I don’t think anything has been changed in the 5 years Ive been here. MANAGEMENT: Ms.Diana was the best but I hear she is no longer with the company. All the others are just college kids who hang out and seem to be there for a cut on their rent. Seldom have I seen the property manager. I see them responding here with an email “centresuites@asset…” and I can personally say don’t waste your time. I’ve emailed 3x in the last 2 weeks and no response… AS A RESIDENT! All of this has been brought to the attention of management MANY times, and it’s the lack of response and lack of accountability that’s leading me to post this. I’d try somewhere else. They just want new residents to fill up the spots but don’t care about you once you’re here. I’ve been here since undergrad and now @TechLaw and it’s just gotten worse and worse. I used to walk into the garage alone no issue and now? no way! This place is really disappointing and has a lot of potential, kinda sad to see the new management run it into the ground. I wish they’d atleast be nice. I wanna resign here, but the way it’s going I don’t know how I could sign a lease again at a place with no wifi when I have constant deadlines. I’ve gotten used to the trash smell, I just feel like most of the provided stuff…isn’t provided."
"Lived here for 2 years and my experience couldn't have been worse. The fire alarms went off regularly day and night for the 2 years. Several times they said they were fixing them and still had problems. Also, I was forced to purchase a reserved parking spot because according to them there was no more general parking left, however, I lived on the first floor and the side I parked on had 15+ open spots everyday. I have also been double charged multiple times on utilities while living there and several other random charges that never add up. Now after being moved out for over 2 months they add another $365 charge to my account. They claim the carpet is damaged, as if it wasn't already damaged when I moved in and probably hasn't been replaced in 5 years. A lot of other units are getting laminate flooring so it seems like they want to take my money to help pay for that. Same situation with the bathtub. It's very old and probably hasn't been replaced in 10 years and has a lot of wearing on it. But because I was the last one living there I am going to have to pay to have it refinished. Stay away from this apartment complex if you don't like your money basically being stolen. Front desk people are nice and that's about it."
"After 2 years living at this community I wanted to leave an authentic review from what I have experienced. First, the apartment itself is very spacious. I lived in both a 3x2 large flat and a 1x1 large flat. Living in the 1x1 most recently, the whole apartment is actually much more spacious than I would have figured. The bedroom size is large and can easily fit a king size bed with plenty of room left over. The living room and kitchen area is the perfect size and having a bathroom that has entry doors from both the bedroom and the living area is very nice so guests do not have to walk through my room to access the bathroom. I love that there is full sized washer and dryers and all the appliances are included. Having a parking garage is a huge perk at this apartment as there are no stairs you have to walk up everyday. For move in there is 2 freight elevators, though since I first moved in, the complex is now fully furnished. In the garage towing is enforced 24/7 and there is a tow truck that will drive around every hour. Some things that the property does lack is security. There is security at the complex during the night hours from close until the following morning, but having known some of the security in the past, they do not complete the walks around the property as much as they should. I had a camera outside of my door and I rarely ever saw them walk by my door. When I used to live in the other apartment there was a big space in front of my door where they would sometimes stand around for a while on their phones. Also speaking about cameras. The properties have 2 as of right now. They are in the garage and only record the traffic in and out of the garage, nothing more. The hallways look to have cameras on the first floor, but they are not active cameras. (I was informed of this when my boyfriends apartment was broken into a year ago. He lived on the first floor and someone broke in, lived there for several days. destroyed his apartment and all of his personal belongings and flooded his unit. The management did work well with my boyfriend for the issue and his insurance did cover his belongings. This is the only break in incident that I am aware of.) The doors on the outside of the property get broken frequently and allow for anyone to access the building. Another thing about the complex is it is pet friendly. I have and ESA and setting up her account was very easy through a portal they use for all pets. There is a dog park, but beware that it is turf and hold everything. My dog would leave the dog park smelling awful. There are some outside areas that pets can use, but they are not often cleaned and smell very bad as well. The fire alarms do go off fairly often, sometimes in the middle of the night. I lived at the Suites property and though they did not go off as often my first year living there as they did the Centre property, more recently they have gone off quite often. Management says they are working on them and have been working on them since they acquired the property in 2020-21 time. Management is hard to get ahold of sometimes, especially if you are calling about an issue that you have tried to contact for several times. They will not reply quickly or if at all. Honestly. The internet at the property was recently upgraded, but on more occasions than 1 I have been without internet for several days at a time. The complex is located very close to campus with about a 10-15 minute walk into the heart of campus. There are 3 bus stops located nearby. One at Torchy's off Ave X, one at the Village on Mac Davis, and one at the Scarlett off Mac Davis. It is also a convenient location with several food options and Walmart right down the road. Lastly, I wanted to talk about pricing. When I was first looking into the Suites in 2021 the prices for a 1x1 large flat (748 sq feet) were roughly $1000 give or take a month. This past year with rent and my reserved parking spot I paid $1122 a month (rent was $1082). This year, it would have cost me upwards $1240 for rent and parking to stay. Keep some of these points in mind."
