Reviews of WellMed at Elgin
"Lady at front desk was rude and turned me away when I needed a tetanus shot- do not come here perfect example of profiteering off of “patients”"
"I had been a patient here for 15+ years. Dr. Biel and TJ Allen have been fantastic. Today I tried to set an appointment to refill my prescriptions and they informed me that they no longer see patients under 55. Now I am scrambling to find a doctor as I only have 5 days of medication left. Great way to dump your loyal patients. I new the place would change when Dr. Biel retired but did now I am feeling a little blindsided."
"I have been a patient of Lindsey Hansen for several years, and I have the greatest confidence in her skills. In fact, I credit her with saving my life by noticing a change in my blood work results which prompted her to notify my cardiologist, who in turn discovered that I had an aortic aneurysm which required immediate, life saving surgery. However, the recent turnover of this practice to WellMed has been a disaster for patients. Communication has gone to hell in a handbasket, and as of the end of the year, they no longer accept many insurance companies, a fact that they did not proactively communicate to patients. Such lack of communication is absolutely unacceptable! I sincerely hope that Lindsey finds a new home to practice, and that I can continue to benefit from her skills and experience, but I will certainly be looking for a new general practitioner in the meantime. It is imperative that the town of Elgin ensures that they focus on locating health care providers to service the rapid growth of the town. Failure to have adequate medical care in the town will be a killer to future growth."
"I've been a patient for several years at this clinic. I have had a horrible time with them the past few days. I was in on a Friday afternoon to see TJ. My pharmacy never got the 4 new prescriptions. I called wellmed answering service, was told the clinic didn't give them closing info. I've call 3 times this morning. Was told they would send a message to the clinic. Called 2 hours later. Asked for the one call person. No call back 1 1/2 hours later called again. I was told the on call person doesn't refill prescriptions and to call back tomorrow. I wasn't prescribed an asprin. A heavy duty antibiotic, additional diabetic medication, a nebulizer and medication for that. Needless to say, I'm very upset."
"I have lived in America all of my life. I am 60 years old. My husband is 64 years old. We are both still employed and are in reasonably good health for our ages. My husband takes no medications and I only take a low dose blood pressure medication. We have United Health Care insurance through my husband's retirement plan from Southwest Bell Communications. We are seeking a local physician so I went on the insurance website to search for someone close to where we live and came upon Elgin Medical Center. I called to inquire and before I could complete opening introduction I was asked how old my husband and I are. When I gave our ages I was told that this practice doesn't accept patients over the age of 60!! This is outrageous and basically discrimination and the owners of this practice should be ashamed of themselves. Every single physician should lose their license. I have never been more outraged - to be told I cannot be seen by a doctor due to my age?! How insane is this? What happens when current patients cross that age threshold? Do you drop them? What is the problem - old folks get sick more therefore requiring you to be in the office more so it conflicts with your golf game? Does the Hippocratic Oath no longer apply in Medicine? Shame on all of you! May you all croak at age 59 so you don't have to be made to feel you've outlived your usefulness and are no longer worthy of medical care. Rose L Ross"
