"This place was amazing. Insanely nice and helpful staff, clean space, and it's completely free?? For people complaining about long wait times at a FREE clinic, you do not have to wait there, they send you a text when you're second in line."
"Hey I just wanted to say that was a terrible experience today. I came in at noon waited 3 hours on the waitlist just to come back & get told I have to come back tomorrow & wait again. I wasn't even given an appointment time either, just told to come back & "hopefully I won't have to wait as long" this was a complete waste of my time. If you guys knew you were out of treatments for the day i don't understand why I wasn't called beforehand letting me know, saving me the trip back once I got the text message."
"So grateful for this clinic. I can't get over how incredibly lovely every staff member there was. Especially T-Angelo. I felt like I'd indulged in a pleasant little mid-morning social visit when I left. Also, the music was nice and upbeat. I'm so glad you all exist. I've never had a more pleasant experience having my blood drawn or asking intensely personal questions. They create an extremely nurturing and supportive environment. Thank you all!"
"After calling for a known exposure, was told they couldn’t do anything for over a week, and if I had symptoms I needed to go somewhere else or the ER. I wasn’t even told of their walk in clinic/hrs. Today, a friend said I should try their walk-in. After sitting in their waiting room for an hr, watching 2-3 people who came in and filled out paperwork after me, were called back, I was told I could get tested, but not treated. This isn’t the first time I’ve had issues with KIND clinic, including for my primary hiv care provider. They have lost a long time client, and with the amount they receive in federal funding, I expect better!"
"I'm thoroughly disappointed with this clinic. I am a first-time patient. I went in and waited over 2.5 hours. Once I got in, I was surprised the practitioner was doing a Zoom training, which seemed utterly inappropriate. He asked me if I was okay with it. I felt very uncomfortable because what am I supposed to say? He's already on Zoom. However, the more significant issue was he was performing for the person on Zoom and not trying to connect with or listen to me. I was there to be tested, as I had an exposure concern. Instead of testing me, he talked me out of it and sent me home. Imagine talking someone out of getting tested. He suggested I come back FOUR days later for various reasons. Excuses included running out of treatment, staff training the following day, and an upcoming holiday. I get this is a free clinic, and it's great that it exists, but that does not negate the fact that people are there to seek real treatment and it needs to be run efficiently and professionally. If no treatments were available that day, someone should have told me that when I checked in 2.5 hours early. Also, test me anyway, so I know for sure. Why send me away and wait four more days to get tested? It was confusing, unprofessional, and haphazard. There needs to be greater attention to patients' well-being and a better attempt to ensure we're comfortable with what is happening before you send us away. I wouldn't recommend this clinic. It's not serious, and there are other options in Austin. UPDATE - I got a response to this review that says they couldn't test me because it was premature and not the appropriate time. This is not accurate. I was exposed 2 weeks prior. My partner was also in the next room (with symptoms) and got tested with no problems. Again, this confirms my concern that the practitioner was more focused on zoom than me. It's unfortunate. I did go to another clinic that day and was immediately tested."
