Reviews of UTMB Health Orthopedics, Angleton DBB
"Everyone is so welcoming! The waiting room is clean, and the furniture is comfortable."
"I scheduled an appointment a month out because of limited availability. They called me 40 minutes before my appointment to tell me they are cancelling. No big deal I understand things happen, what bothered me is the reschedule was for another month away. So two months to walk around on a torn hamstring because THEY messed up and won’t reschedule for sooner? Nah."
"Had a broken ankle which was treated with a plate and 2 screws. Surgery went well. Just under the 90 days after surgery I went back with the area being red very sensitive to the touch and slightly warm. Was told I just irritated it and its normal but the screws had backed out a bit. 2 days after that visit my ankle starts leaking but it's not hurting as bad. Continues to leak but is not to painful. I was told it was not infected and is normal to hurt at times in the healing process. I go back 2 weeks from when Dr said it was not infected Now leaking at this time they tell me it will be a $100 to be seen because it has been more than 90 days past my surgery and would not be a follow up visit. I explained how I came in 2 weeks ago with in the 90 days with the same thing that seems to be obviously infected at this point and was told sorry it's $100 to be seen. I dont think the Dr would intentionally turn me away just so I would come back when they could charge me but I would have thought they would at least want to check their work that could be infected when the Dr told me it wasn't."
"Horrible EXPERIENCES here. The PA Brett Baker was rude, arrogant, and VERY short with me. He didn't want to take time to listen to my symptoms. My appointments consisted of him doing a quick visual exam, and him talking to his audio recorder for the WHOLE visit about his own personal notes without letting me say a word, and he never even looked me in the eye or asked if I had questions. Then, he abruptly told me to go to the front and pay. After having to demand that he take a moment to let me ask questions before I go to pay, he rudely slammed the exam door, and disregarded everything I said and asked him about my condition. The only thing he did that was right was to refer me to an Orthopedic Surgeon that did surgery and removed a foreign body that had been in my foot for 5 months because after mutiple visits to this office, they couldn't figure it out. Also, his office staff did not know how to get an insurance approval for my MRI. I had to call this office over 20 times in a 3 week period to get them to get authorization for an MRI. They lied and said that they had sent the request to my insurance and were waiting on MY INSURANCE to respond. After I confirmed thru my insurance that they had not received anything, I was given excuses that there was only 1 person in the Angleton Ortho office that could get pre-authorizations, but she works at multiple offices and is hardly ever there. Also, I was given the excuse that the only person that could do it was newly employed and didn't know the proper procedures. It was a nightmare being injured and dealing with this office. Thank God I was referred to a profession Orthapedic Surgeon that took care of me."
"A couple months ago, my (not quite) three year old daughter fell and hurt her arm. I debated whether to make the trek to Texas Children's, but decided to stay local and take her to Dr. McDonald and Brett Baker. I couldn't be happier with that decision. From the moment we arrived, they made an effort to make my daughter (and myself) comfortable. Even taking X-rays and putting on (& removing) a cast were a breeze. I hope we don't need an orthopedist again, but if we do, we'll return to Dr. McDonald."
