Reviews of HealthTexas Primary Care Doctors (New Braunfels Clinic)
"No direct dial number to NBTX office, you have to get in a push button roundabout to talk to someone who is not even in the office you visit. For some reason they do not give COVID vaccines but they do give the flu vaccine. When you ask why no COVID vaccine you get a shoulder shrug from Bahr, Ely and anyone else associated with the office. As soon as my father's health will give me a minute I will be changing providers to someone with a local number and somewhere that offers a full medical menu for patients. The staff is amazing and works within the standards presented to them. Sounds like leadership needs to step up and provide medical support for their patients."
"Big shout out to Tasha at Health Texas call line!!!! EXTREMELY HELPFUL!!! She took the time and listened to my problem after 4 calls trying to correct a problem she listened and double checked and was a great pleasure to speak with!!! I see Dr.Bahr in New Braunfels, Tx who is FANTASTIC!!! She needs to be praised for her great Work. I’ll ask for her anytime I have to call!"
"I am writing this with a double ear infection. So, if the emotion seeps through a bit my apologies in advance. I had an appointment at 2:40p today and the last time I had seen my doctor they were at the walnut location. I drove to that location and made it by 2:40p only to see that it was no longer Texas health. I called to let the office know I was going to be late because there was classic new Braunfels traffic in my way. I waited on the phone for 7 minutes to see if they would even take me before I was connected to a representative that transferred me to another associate who let me know it was fine and she would let them know I was just running late. I walk in and the receptionist asks for my appointment time and when I answer her question a nurse from across the room loudly starts saying,”no, Dr. Ely has a tight schedule l! No. Maybe 15 minutes, but not 20 no…” I explain that I went to the old location even though she wasn’t talking to me -just about me loudly in front of me. She makes eye contact, smirks and basically laughs in my face. I guess it is kind of funny every couple of years a clinic switches locations back and forth. I wouldn’t have driven over to be laughed at if … they would have told me on the phone they weren’t going to see me? There are ways to tell people who aren’t feeling very well- “no can do ma’am! Back of the line!” with a little bit of empathy. Anyways, let me wrap this up - so there I am not feeling very good at all with tears in my eyes because of the … ya know …excruciating pain, but they won’t wait to ask the doctor if she can squeeze me in because it’s Friday afternoon and I totally get it. People say the give out the wrong information, there are policies and at the end of the day we really aren’t people just appointments. Side story: l really love this staff and I had got used to that old location. There was once a new nurse who could not find my vein to draw blood, which in my 34 years of life has never happened. I was basically a push pin cushion and she continued to stab away until I fainted. Woke up throwing up and didn’t even complain because I knew she was just trying her best. Dr. Ely is so awesome I wasn’t going to let one bad incident ruin my experience."
"Went in for my appointment, out of refills for asthma & diabetes medicine. I was told that Dr. Barr would not see me until I paid a past due balance of $54. I was unaware of the balance, told them I could pay for my current visit & pay the small past due next week. If I had the extra $54, I would have paid it. I was told no, I could not see Dr. Barry or get my urgent prescriptions until I paid. Wow, I didn't think Dr. Barr would refuse treat a patient in need of care over a small amount of money that I would have paid next week."
"Texas Health turned a 2 star rating into 5 star rating by working with me, understanding my complaint, and refunding my office visit money...read below to see what the original 2 star complaint was and you will appreciate the way they worked with me to resolve my issue... No complaints about the staff nor Dr. Bahr - really enjoy my visits. However, I need to warn everyone about something I believe is not ethical - My annual phsyical/checkup is FREE, but then they ask you to come in to review the results of bloodwork but that's apparently "not part" of the Physical, so I had to pay $111 (for a Tele-visit, not in person visit!!) . I told their Accounts Receivable department that it doesn't make sense that my Physical is free, bloodwork is free, but to review my results costs $111 (Due to me not meeting deductible yet)....this makes NO sense. Why didn't they forewarn me it was not part of my "free Physical"?? It just smells bad - a Doctor can schedule multiple follow ups knowing it's going to cost you or your insurance every time...Please beware and ASK before they want to you schedule a "Follow up".....I have a"
