"Failure to diagnose. Three unnecessary painful surgeries. Torture. Installed an implant that was not safe or effective for people with MS. Implant prevented me from having necessary MRIs for my MS. Medical bills charged to insurance in excess of $290,000.I initially went to Dr Hey Jr because I had chronic urinary incontinence. I wanted the botox injection. However Hey & staff tried to talk me into an electronic stimulator implant. Medtronic. I protested but they talked me into it. 06/09/2017 Prior to this implant surgery I had to undergo a "test" surgery.This surgery was excruciatingly painful. I was awake the whole time and it felt like I was being electrocuted. He was wiggling around back there trying to find the sacral nerve and I jolted and screamed out while I was on the table. Test showed very little improvement. I wanted to try the botox but they said I needed to get the stimulator telling me it works for incontinence due to MS. I found out later was a downright lie. 06/30/2017 Hey Jr did the implant surgery. My insurance was billed over $240,000.When the stimulator quit working a few days later, I was instructed to speak directly to Medtronic sales rep! I started doing some research and found the Medtronic website: "not been tested for safety or effectiveness with people with neurological problems such as MS". At that point I realized I was just a practice dummy for Dr Hey Jr. I also found out how expensive that Medtronic device was: $20,000. Dr Hey Jr made a fortune on that surgery, and so did Medtronic, at my expense, my pain and suffering. I also found out that Medtronic was sued. So I turned it off with the remote control. Upon visiting his office 1 month later, he talked me into trying it for a few more months and leaving it on. It still did not help me at all and was causing me pain.. At this point I felt like he was blowing me off and was trying to stall for time so I couldn't take action.After 2 months, I turned it off again and tried to forget that it was still in my body. A few months later I went to my neurologist for my MS. He told me it was "very foolish" to implant a device like that because I would no longer be able to do my regular MRIs to see if my MS was progressing. I need the MRIs to keep an eye on any new lesions in my brain and spinal cord. The implant would prevent me from using MRIs to monitor the progress of my MS. I was outraged. He knew I had MS and he implanted that device. So Dr Hey removed the implant in 2018 and left a horrible scar on my lower back. The removal surgery caused me a great deal of pain and once again my insurance company paid him a fortune. In April 2018 he finally performed the botox procedure. It was painful. He sent me home with antibiotics for a UTI, urinary tract infection, because he said that these Botox injections always cause a UTI. I took the medicine. Two months later I ended up in the emergency room with extreme pain in my pelvic area. It turned out that I had an extremely severe UTI. That emergency room visit cost my insurance over $19,000. And Of course the Botox procedure did not work. Why? He failed to diagnose a prolapsed bladder.!! THE ONLY REASON I DID NOT SUE Dr Wayne Hey Jr, and DFW Urology for negligence and failure to diagnose and pain and suffering was because I missed the two-year deadline for medical malpractice lawsuit which was February 9th 2019. A. K. year of birth 1962 (so Dr Hey will know who I am) UPDATE: Happy ending for me: My primary care doctor referred me to Dr. Gould, in Fort Worth. I saw his physician's assistant and she did a very quick one minute pelvic examination and said I had a cystocele ie. prolapsed bladder. She said that a bladder sling surgery would solve the problem. On November 2, 2018, Dr Gould's surgery improved my problem by 80% . I'm very happy that my new Urologist, Dr David Gould at Metroplex Urology and Kidney Transplant was able to help me."
