Reviews of Optimum
"I honestly didn't have any serious issues since we got this service in 2019 until now. My husband messaged me that our service was out. My account is on Auto pay since we got it while it was suddenlink. Now we are without service because some how there was a address change? They then also said that it hasn't been paid. Which is it? Either way I have all info needed to prove it's on-time. When I log into my account it shows up to date. They told my husband he needed to pay 40 on it. It literally shows 40 paid towards my next bill that isn't until the 3rd of March. They told him we owed that and still no service. I work late and now I have to get up at 8 am to figure it out. I'm furious with this situation. I have no contact saying my account was delinquent or anything. There are other options in my town now and this better be corrected asap."
"Very, very deceptive. Avoid doing business with this company. On hold for over two hours to speak to a manager because sales lied about being able to get TV and try it out. Talk to retentions and said the $40 Internet plan will now be $75. Don’t buy TV with them just to try it; you will not get the correct price for Internet. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Oh, and by the way, I’m still on a silent hold waiting to get to a manager. Update: it is now 6 o’clock. I’ve been dealing with this for three hours, and I just found out Verizon has home Internet in my area. I am dropping everything I have with them and switching. It’s just $35. This has been a ridiculous waste of my time."
"I called to setup an account with Optimum three weeks prior to my lease starting. They shipped a router to me a couple of days later. Once moving day arrived, I got to my new house and tried to self-activate my modem. However, the website told me that service was unavailable and to contact customer support. When contacting support later that day, they said I need to contact Sales the next day when their office reopened. I called sales. Found out my account was disconnected. They told me some other department will contact me in 48 hours to confirm my identity. I'm irritated at this point because they could just "identify" me while on the phone, and it made no sense to wait another two days for a resolution. I called back trying to get a better solution and the next sales rep put me on hold, then hung up on me. The third sales rep that day told me I needed to create a new account and he would ship me another modem. So now I'll have two of the same modems. The new modem arrives the next day. I try to self-activate it. Again, it doesn't work. I contact support via the online chat feature. They can't help me, so they tell me to contact technical support. Technical support helps me troubleshoot but nothing works so they schedule a technician to visit the next day. The tech arrives the next day, he identified the coaxial cable doesn't have power and it needs to be connected to a power source. He goes to his car to grab a power source. He then tries to set the modem up but he can't figure out why it still isn't working. He calls tech support. They activate something on their end. And finally after 4 gruesome days I finally have internet. This was the most brutal, frustrating, bureaucratic process I've ever experienced when it came to setting up internet. I'm not happy to say the least about my business with Optimum thus far."
"***PLEASE READ***Shady, shady, shady!! I ordered cable and internet a month ago. Service was awful, but also for the Core package, all you get are unpopular channels that only play sitcom reruns. If you want TLC or any other of the popular channels, you have to pay $200 a month to get those channels. I called Customer Service and told them I was going to go ahead and cancel my service and some rude New Yorker gets on the customer service line and tries to haggle with me like I’m at a used car dealership. He put me on hold 3 times to talk to his boss and see if he can work a deal with me to give me the channels I want in my current package. All he did after each 5-7 hold was try to upgrade me. After the 3rd attempt, I ended the call. I went down to the store. They were actually polite, but just customer service and sales. They tell me they can’t end the service, but I drop the equipment off. I called back and got someone from a foreign call center and he told me I had to pay any balance in order to cancel. While getting my info, he asked for all of the typical info. Name, address, etc, but what through me off was he wanted my middle name?? Then, he asked for my date of birth and social security number?? I obviously refused, told him the conversation was over, and he called me back 4 times trying to tell me it was okay and it was only optional. These people are con artists! Don’t do business with them. If you do, you’ll pay the price. My entire community complains and we have all looked for other options. It’s literally the main topic on our Facebook neighborhood page. Terrible!!"
"Being an Optimum customer has been the worst experience of my life. We have been a customer for 6 months (not by choice) and have been disappointed since the day of the install. They installation appointment was set up wrong and only Internet hooked up. I called the office a few days later asking about my TV and they had no clue I didn't even have it installed. They set up a second appointment for TV only almost 3 weeks later. Not only was I charged for the second installation I was also billed for the TV services that I never received. Somehow, I was being billed for extra equipment and DVR services that I never received nor signed up for. I have called every month ever since to try to get the charges resolved but every time it is a different story. No notes can be made on the account so nothing can be passed down so the next person to answer has no clue. They are quick to take your money but can "only" offer credits and no refunds. Yet, I still don't see my credits. They are taking advantage of the people in this area because Spectrum doesn't service it. They don't fail to disappoint!"
