"I want to start off by saying the front staff was awesome and quick with everything. Now to the 1 star part of the review. My father and I checked into the emergency on 03/04/24, approximately at 2 p.m., when my dad was having immense bloating. We waited approximately an hour before we finally had a nurse named Karen come up and give us at least some assistance. She informed my father to pee in a cup and just leave it on the wall, and another nurse will be by to come pick it up, while doing this, she put a heart rate monitor on his finger which probably cost him 150$ and never used the monitor on him and we even informed her that my dad was having a high heart rate. But anyway, my dad followed instructions and later returned and left the sample on the wall for them to take. Another hour passes, and the doctor shows up, He speaks with us and orders a CT scan and then tells us his idea what it might be. We waited about another hour, and my dad went and got a CT scan and returned. My dad and I are once again waiting another hour!!!! The gentleman working at the billing department even openly admits that insurance is a scam before we finally get moved to another room because all the rooms and beds in ER are being taken by ambulance calls, and a nurse is laughing at a serious call about a Gentleman that was pistol whipped in the back of his head!!! Before that, they were talking smack about someone who had a self inflicted gun wound in the leg, So once again, we're waiting another hour before the doctor returns and tells my dad, "You have more tumors on the liver, and you're going into liver failure." My dad then says okay, but what about my bloating? The doctor tells my father he is going to submit an order for my father to a radiologist, and they would either call him 03/05/24 or 03/06/24 to go in. My father has not been called in, and his emotions were running wild, but with the help of Texas Oncology, my dad's only hope. They informed him he would be okay. With this being said, my dad decided to call the radiologist, and they informed him that no paperwork had been submitted by the doctor and the pee test my dad did? Well, Texas Oncology told him that the ER never even submitted or logged it!!! We informed Texas Oncology of this mess, and the staff is not happy with ER saying my dad could've stayed and even could've been admitted overnight and drained right then and there. My dad couldn't even receive his chemotherapy because of how bloated he is. So, with all this being said, thank you to the staff of Maria C. Aloba, but a huge middle finger to the staff that was under Mathew R. Davis, for being unprofessional and unaware of the situation we were in. I also want to mention that we received no paperwork except the receipt and the diagnosis. no paperwork for radiology and no paperwork with follow-ups, absolutely nothing to show for the 10,000$ other than blood work, a CT scan, and a rude staff and doctor, And while I do get that other people are in for their emergencies. Does that mean to ignore a Stage 4 colon cancer patient with metastatic disease that is in pain and feels like he's about to explode? Basically, feel like he's kicked to the curb for nothing? SHAME ON THE ER AND STAFF!"
"Stay away. This place is horrible. Had my appendix removed here and have had nothing but complications. The ER doctors Dr Shaw and Magallanes, I hope they never have to experience an emergency of their own. They treat you like you are bothering them or there for drugs. Right away Dr Magallanes told me I would be going home without even first doing anything. I can’t imagine what he does to other patients. From previous reviews it seems like that’s how he treats patients. He’s a disgruntled person that doesn’t deserve to be called a doctor. Cynthia santillan"
"Check in was a wonderful experience and did provide excellent service. However, during my initial E.R evaluation was with Doctor Henry Workman Jr. - Dr. Henry noticed that the daily trash can had used needles and requested nurse Clarissa M and Kristen Graham to throw away needles and dispose correctly. Moments later Nurse Kristen grabbed blue gloves and IV materials to start my IV line, then touched the trash and came to me to with the same contaminated gloves. I politely requested for her to change her gloves, and she had a negative reaction. From there on she had a slight attitude which then followed up with gossiping (as I could over hear) and a bit of arrogance during communication such as speaking for the doctor instead of the doctor informing me. As an individual who works and has an education in healthcare admin , I find that appalling, dishonest, lack of care towards your patient’s safety, and lack of training from this facility. The doctor was the one who discovered the issue and not the numerous nurses working there. The distance from the disposal bin and trash can was not far at all. Please don’t take this lightly as cross contamination could have occurred with me or other employees who work there such as janitors"
"I’m so beyond thankful for all the staff there. I was there for gallbladder removal (emergency room 35) and everyone was so kind and caring. My nurses were amazing despite being so packed with sick patients. They were probably tired and super busy but they still treated me with so much care. Everyone worried for me even those taking my vitals. Thank you so much. I appreciate the emergency team and for everyone that was there covering. You are amazing individuals."
"My mom has been here since Friday and each day I come to visit I find a mess. I’m in shock that the staff doesn’t clean up after themselves. It’s important to clean up after themselves: blood on the floor, vials, gloves, dirty sheets, opened packages. Not impressed with cleanliness especially in a hospital setting In addition, a staff member walked in and noticed the pads were soiled. I asked if they were supposed to be changed regularly and she told me I could change them and showed me where the pads were. I wonder if other patient families are asked to do this. Very disappointed with cleanliness!"
