"The getaway cabins in Wimberley are a great option for folks in the Austin or San Antonio looking for a quick and easy getaway. The cabins themselves are very nice. They are very cozy, comfortable, and have pretty much everything you would need. Unfortunately the site where the cabins are so not really offer much. There’s a walking trail, but you’ll be done with it in about 5 minutes. The site is close to wimberley’s town square and other parks though so that is convenient. The part that really bothered me though, is that for a cabin that is not cheap to stay at, they nickel and dime you the entire time you are there. These cabins are marketed towards people in the city, who are looking for an easy cabin getaway. Everything you would need is provided type of marketing. The reality is, you need to bring anything you would need to cook over the fire, and if you want to use any of the firewood, fire starter, coffee, etc, it’s a charge. Given the cost of these cabins are more than $300 a night on the weekends, that should be more than enough to cover the arbitrary costs of coffee, firewood, fire starter, etc."
"If you like eggs for your breakfast with a side of sewage (pictures attached), this place is for you. Unlike their other provisions, the sewage comes with the room for free, freshly prepared by workers who come at 9:30 AM without telling you so you can be surprised by the pleasant smell as you walk toward the back of the cabin. Can’t finish it? Don’t worry they’ll come clean it up 4 hours after you’ve notified them. By the way, no compensation was offered. Besides that incident, the room is reasonably clean and customer service over text is quick and responsive."
"We had a few bumps when we first checked in but customer service helped us work them out. Not a foolproof system yet, there are some issues they need to work on- like double booking and some cabins are definitely not like the ones pictured! Make sure to put in the notes that you want a view (although why else are you coming) or you could end up with a highly exposed cabin to every passerby with no view. The accommodations vary as well- ask for a newer cabin as they seem nicer. Once in and settled though it is a serene and peaceful place. They do think of everything and it’s the perfect place to be unplugged."
"I've had the pleasure of staying at Getaway Hill Country Cabins twice. Both times were a wonderful experience. The cabins are small, but they have everything you need and are very comfortable and functional. The interior is simple but charming. The large picture windows and wooded areas allow for a relaxing time. The grounds are located in an area that feels secluded enough for a peaceful respite from the hustle of everyday life. Yet, it's conveniently located near the town of Wimberley where you can enjoy many local shops and restaurants. During my second stay, they provided a tabletop charcoal grill for outdoor cooking since the fire ban prohibited use of the fire pit. They also had a small provisions shop with a small selection of toiletries, snacks, and camp activities. There were a few cons such as lighters being out, the knives being dull and unusable, and the entrance to the grounds being difficult to see at night (I would highly recommend putting light reflectors by the entrance). However, they didn't spoil the experience. I'm looking forward to my next trip!"
"This was my first time at Getaway and it truly set the standard for a secluded getaway to reconnect with yourself and loved ones. My nine year old daughter loved the bunk beds and sleeping with the stars was magical. We will certainly be back. I love all the attention to detail and gentle reminders to unplug. Small feedback to make it a five star for us: we were water boarded slightly by the shower (please consider adding one that is on a swivel) and I would love the general store to have some basic food items like other locations. Overall I would highly recommend."
