Reviews of Akumin
"BEWARE! My whole experience here from start to finish was very uncomfortable and unprofessional. I went in for a CR scan with contrast. The IV popped out during the scan and the tech blamed me for having my arm bent when I was in the exact same position she told me to be in and didn’t move at all from the time she left the room. I was absolutely covered in sticky contrast fluid that got all over my clothes and in my hair. When I went to checkout, my bill was significantly higher than I was quoted. When I asked, I was told that the tech decided I should have a scan both with and without contrast. This is not the procedure that my doctor ordered and I was not informed nor did I approve this. I asked about who authorized this and they were very short and kept saying it was the tech’s decision and wouldn’t provide any additional information. Is it common practice to perform unauthorized procedures without consulting the patient?? I felt completely taken advantage of. As if that wasn’t enough, I tried looking at my insurance claim and it looks like they haven’t even filed anything with my insurance and I’m thinking I paid a lot more than I should have and it didn’t even go towards my deductible. I see several other reviews here with the same problem. I am beyond disgusted with this unprofessional office and advise everyone to steer clear"
"Came in for an MRI, nice facility, had a very uncomfortable experience. Theres no need to be inpatient and rush someone through the process. I was very angry and asked to speak with the manager. Mary was very sweet and showed me that she actually cared about my care. She was very knowledgeable and was able to explain the whole process to me. I would go back just for her. She definitely deserves a promotion for her dedication to her job."
"Easy scheduling, clean facility, state-of-the-art equipment. We had to get an MRI on our child, and this was a much better experience than we expected. Jackie the MRI tech even asked our kid what music he wanted to hear while in the machine. Everything was explained well for the kid and the parents. Only good things to say about this experience."
"I went in for a CT scan of the abdomen with and without contrast. What a nightmare! I had an extreme allergic reaction to the contrast, had to be transferred to the emergency. The Radiologist and the team were by my side monitoring me and gave me Benadryl till the paramedics came, however I wish they gave me a test dose of the contrast before going all out. What I did not appreciate is that the whole reason why I got this scan done was to see if the hemangioma in my liver grew over the past 6 months. To my surprise/frustration it was not reported at all. When I called them, the front desk staff very rudely asked me to make my doctor call them. I do not think I will return to this place for any other imaging tests."
"My doctor wanted me to have an MRI done at this place because I was high risk. I did. They gave me the price for an MRI. I thought it was really high. Today I looked at my insurance claims to see if my MRI was there and it wasn’t. It was done early part of January and there should have been a claim. All of my other claims from other places are showing up for this year. I’m very upset now spent all that money and it didn’t go on my deductible for this year. Some how I got to fixed this because I am tired of forking over money left and right because I thought I met my deductible from the MRI this year and now I have to pay twice or figured out how to get the MRI on my insurance. I gave them my insurance card and it was still high. It’s a big mess."
