"There is a lot to like about this place so I will start with that. The pet friendly room was a lifesaver, 24 hour free coffe machine, lemon infused water, living room area on the bottom floor and on the 2nd floor we used both. Store has a few snacks and drinks, breakfast was included and had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, waffles, pastries, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, juices and milk. Proximty to Edinurg Regional, Basillica of Our Lady is about 10 minutes away. There is a pool but we did not visit. What I did not like. Comfort Inn charges you for what they call incendentals like damage to your room. It is $100 and I thought wow that is a lot but even worse when I looked at my bank statement they took out $100 per day in incendental fee. I was upset about that. The pet deposit is $25 per room per night and I never got any of that back even though we brought our own puppy pads with us. They did return $200 in fees but I still think that is ridiculous. By comparison Homewood suites does not charge you until you leave and there are no damage fees."
"The room was great but for some reason it smelled like feet."
"The best by far weve stayed at on our trip. Best mattresses , jacuzzi tub is so nice. Big rooms nice for your fury babies. Very quiet. Ac isn't loud the fans quiet so if you want white noise you'll want to bring your own fan."
"Stayed at this location in the past and it was great however not anymore. I had to repair the toilet valve so the tank would fill and flush. staff was not rude but definitely not a friendly. they were like robots. They did their job and that was it.I handed the checkout person the sheet showing need for room repair and he did not even comment on it. I don't think this is somewhere I want to stay again. I had no towel problems but reviews indicate others have had a lot of issues and getting extra charges. This is a major concern."
"On October 21, 2023, I stayed at the Choice Hotels in Edinburg, which included the Comfort Inn and the Main Stay. When I entered the lobby, I immediately noticed a mildew-like odor. I booked my room upon arrival and checked in with a friendly attendant who took my cash deposit. Everything seemed fine that night. Upon entering our room, the mildew smell persisted, and I noticed some stains on the carpet. I decided to shower, despite having faded red hair, being cautious to avoid staining the towels. When we checked out, the general manager handled the check out. I requested my deposit back, and she told me to wait. As we waited, the general manager accused us of damaging hotel property. I was puzzled and asked for clarification. She pointed to the towels on the floor and claimed we used them outside. I explained that we used the towels for their intended purpose and offered to wait for her to wash them to prove there was no damage. The issue wasn't about paying for a towel; it was about how we were treated. I confronted the manager and asked if the situation was due to our appearance or race. Things escalated, and the police were called. I tried to de-escalate the situation, but my brother got involved. The police arrived, and I asked them to speak with the manager first and review the video, which showed that I was not rude or yelling as the manager claimed over the phone. I expressed concern that the manager wouldn't handle the towels properly and would make me pay for them regardless. The manager claimed she felt threatened, and the police became involved. I returned two hours later to pay for two towels and one bathmat, taking pictures as evidence. This experience was hurtful and embarrassing, affecting my fiancé's health. We had a terrible drive home, and his blood pressure became dangerously elevated. This entire situation was profoundly distressing, and I have no desire to stay at another Choice hotel in the future."
