Reviews of Richmond Road Veterinary Clinic
"Top notch! The office staff are friendly and responsive. The Vet Techs and Veterinarians are all fantastic - knowledgeable, understanding and so kind. I recommend without reservation! I wouldn’t take my furry family to anyone else!"
"I can’t say enough good things. The kindness and compassion towards my dog as well as myself and husband has been unmatched. Our dog had emergency surgery a few months back and Dr. Holaday called just to check in after! We were both hoping the surgery wouldn’t have to take place, but she calmly walked us through all the steps to do if things took a turn for the worse. Dr. Smith was so helpful and patient teaching my husband how to express a dogs bladder, and listens intently. He as well called to check in after a sick visit to make sure our pup was doing okay. Dr. Back made me feel heard and allowed me to advocate for my pup when she had pneumonia. Being a first time pet owner as an adult has been a roller coaster. Everyone from the doctors to the techs here make me and my dog feel right at home. I’m so thankful for all that they do!"
"I have been in Lexington only a couple of years and when I was looking for a new vet clinic I had one appointment at Richmond Road and never looked back. The people are amazing! I have always been told about any expenses up front so I can decide if I can afford anything that is being recommended. Whenever I would call for a prescription refill it was always available right away. The front desk staff even recommended a couple of pharmacies to call to see if I could get medication cheaper. I want to mention Dr. Back specifically. She is the most kind and understanding vet I have known, I have had dogs for the last 20 years or so. She made the process I had to go through so much more tolerable. I was told in June that my dog was sick and there was no cure. She sat with me to make sure I understood what she was saying and to answer all of my questions. As my Peanut declined she always returned my phone messages and would answer my questions and let me talk until I was calmed down a bit. Putting Peanut to sleep was one of the hardest things I have had to do but Dr. Back was very reassuring and made the process as good as possible. I am currently looking to adopt another dog and when that happens I will be back to see Dr. Back."
"DO NOT COME HERE: WARNING! I’ve been to many vet offices and this has to be by far the most penny pinching fraudulent vet offices I’ve ever been to. EVERYTHING is about money. I’ve lived in Lexington for 5 years and ever time I’ve decided to give this vet office a chance because it was closest to me I’ve regretted it and today was the LAST time I’ll ever go back. They can’t even give flea medication without charging you a “check up” appointment. No advice is given without it costing you an arm and a leg. Every time I’ve come here for a visit I’ve waited back in the rooms for over an hour (after waiting in the lobby) just for a technician to come in and grab her weight. The vet would spend 10 minutes with us just to tell me they wanted to perform the most expensive level of care costing anywhere from $700-2000. I’m not sure when veterinarians started to care more about money rather than helping animals but this place is corrupt. I started traveling to Richmond Kentucky for all Athena’s major vet appointment and it has saved me $1000’s! For the last year the only thing I allowed this vet office to do for my fur child is an anal gland expression and flea medication because that seemed to be the only thing they can’t screw me over on until TODAY! This place always is in a RUSH to squeeze in as many animals a day they can to make the most money and that is very apparent. Every time I tell other vet offices what this one charges/what they recommend they are SHOCKED. They also make some of their own “medications” to save even more money for themselves but will still charge you $100’s for that same medication. To no surprise you’ll run out of before it even starts to do anything. SPEND YOUR TIME AND MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE. Your family will be grateful you did."
"The staff was very kind and patient with my pup. They were also able to make a last-minute appointment for us which was appreciated. However, I was turned off by the lack of communication regarding my bill. I was presented with somewhere between a $300-$400 bill with a list of services they conducted without my permission to move forward before discussing any of the prices. Many people may not have the privilege of affording a large bill and I feel that should be communicated with the patients beforehand. I felt taken advantage of. Like I said, I was grateful to get my pup in for an emergency session, but I certainly won’t be returning."
