"We took our puppy here after adopting him from KHS because the first exam visit was free. The vet and the staff were so nice and made him very comfortable, but this vet is simply too expensive. They were trying to charge us around $350 for his vaccines. I called another vet in town, and they were $200 cheaper. I really wish this clinic wasn’t so overpriced, but we will have to take our dog elsewhere."
"Very dissatisfied with this business. They are too overpriced and MONEY HUNGRY compared to other vets in town. They never cared for my dogs health and well being as a good veterinary clinic should. I’m finding a better provider at this point. I won’t be over charged for bad service."
"I adopted an FIV + cat from the KY Humane Society. With the adoption I was told I could take my cat to VCA for his first vet checkup for free. When something is "Free" that should be your first warning sign. The handout the HS game me clearly listed three locations. Two in Louisville and one in Versailles. I called the location for the Highlands (Fairleigh) and asked for an appointment. Got one and when I walk in I am told it was made for the other location out in Fern Creek. Now what they said, of course, is that I called the wrong number. I am willing to accept, always, that I am fallible but I knew there were multiple locations, I knew which location I wanted and I made a point of calling the Highlands one. I have included a photo of the contact info I was given. The highlights were done by the HS not me. I can't imagine how I "Called the other location" when I clearly, and with intention, called the Fairleigh number and said "Highlands" at least twice to make sure. I know places like this will never take responsibility. The veterinary care may be top notch. I can't speak to that, because I could never get past the failure of the telephone staff. I am going to make an appoint with another vet and pay out of pocket for it because a family member gave them a glowing endorsement. So if you adopt from the KHS, beware of this "Free" thing. You get what you pay for, always."
"YOU AND YOUR BELOVED PET DESERVES BETTER. I will be screaming from the hilltops to everyone to never bring their pets to this hospital. I have been bringing my fosters and cat here for the past 7 years and they ruined everything with one situation that could’ve easily been worked with if they cared about your pets and not just money. When you call an animal hospital in distress the last thing you expect is to be scolded and talked down to for not bringing your house cat in annually. But that’s exactly what happened this morning while on the phone with VCA Fairleigh- I have never felt more hurt and disrespected. Instead of asking how they could make this work or help after my accident, I was scolded? After getting over my initial rage and shock of the treatment I received just over the phone I decided to call back because unfortunately no matter how disrespectful the lady was over the phone this vet is my cats vet and if they truly need to see her I will bring her in (even though I can’t walk at the moment). So I call to try to set up an quick appointment, was put on hold for a minute and someone came back to the phone with a date 30 days from now when they knew the situation and I was leaving in 4 days for surgery and was told word for word “Well we were going to work with you but from the phone call earlier we are not going to.” That line alone proved they never planned to work with me. Was I stressed over the phone? Absolutely, I just had a horrific accident and am scared for my baby and they react by scolding and talking down to me. I’m sure many have had great experiences with VCA but if you are in an emergency or in a pinch and need them to work with you I would NEVER EVER go to this place for the care and support I need for my beloved pet."
"Firstly, the staff at this business is incredible. Every person I spoke with there was so knowledgeable, kind, patient and understanding. They stood with me through weeks of my toughest decisions and the unexpected, tragic death of my pet. They were all extremely supportive, helpful, and compassionate. They were able to squeeze me in within five minutes of their closing time, no appointment, when my pet needed an emergency euthanasia do to many factors (months of struggling with many diseases, my girl was a very troubled rescue,) regardless, they understood the urgency of the situation and helped me immediately. With all of that being said, this is not a budget friendly vet by any means. $150 first appt, $100s in trying different foods for a sick cat, $300 for tests x2, $375 for last minute euthanasia, referral to get an ultrasound for my pet was estimated $2500 (granted it is a referral.) If you are strapped for cash, you will probably need to look into other offices. But if money isn’t a question, I have no doubt that they offer the best, most gentle and thorough care in Louisville. Side note since I brought up costs, the staff never pressured me into buying unnecessary things, they were always extremely understanding of money restrictions and went above and beyond to help me financially I.e. waiving small procedures etc…"
