"I got in contact with you earlier this year bc I wanted to adopt a bird but she had already been adopted which I am glad bc I hadn’t been fit to care for one then now I have a 1 year old cockatiel named Jelly bean! I saw Cosmo on your site for adoption but the only thing is I would have to speak with my mother aBd my cockatiel is a female and I am not wanting to breed. We actually submitted a form earlier to be foster birds. I only have two small 32 by 12 cages my cockatiels cage used to be a African grey cage but I really hope to adopt from you or foster birds from you! You were very sweet to me."
"My family was looking for our forever bird. we sent an application in for Lucy a Goffin Cockatoo. The next day we got a message asking to set a meet and greet. we scheduled the meet and greet and anxiously waited. we met Lucy and he was amazing took to us instantly and we knew he was the bird for us. we all agreed that it went well. The rescue advised us to do research for a couple days to understand why cockatoos are the most surrendered bird. my wife and I did the research and it can be scary hearing and seeing the many behaviors of these beautiful birds if not properly having their needs met. We bought a cage and sent the cage picture to the rescue to validate it was large enough for Lucy and we scheduled our next visit. our next visit we got to see the stubborn and uncomfortable side of Lucy. He could tell things were changing. He went to the vet the day before. My family and I were set on Lucy being our families new member. We were authorized to adopt and did so that day. on the way home Lucy began to adjust and become comfortable again. almost like he knew he was going home. he was whistling and being loving. I let him out of his carrier and loved on him in the car. (Bad Idea) It went great until we got home and he did not want to be picked up or put in the carrier. I got my only hard bite when I got him to take him in the house. Lucy has adapted well and loves on my son and my wife and me. He trust each family member with different activities. I sing and dance with him and he gives me lots of kisses. My wife is the handler who gets to hold and move him around the house and he loves her shoulders. my son gets to pet and snuggle with him. Growing pains are occuring and each day he becomes more comfortable and comes out of his shell a little more. He is amazing and we wouldnt trade him for the world. Feathers Galore is amazing. We drove 2.5 hours one way for the meet and greet and the adoption visit. 10 hours of driving for Lucy and he is well worth it. The rescue always responds to our text and answers questions and ask about Lucy weekly. I fully support this rescue and from a very happy family. THANK YOU! For what you do and how you do it! Our family feels complete now!"
"I cant say enough about this amazing place! Sandy is very caring and compassionate and very knowledgeable. We were able to adopt an Amazon Parrot from her who needed a home. His name is Richard and hes so sweet and so beautiful!"
"When I was first shopping around for my bird, I was really unsure where to go. I ended up not visiting Feathers Galore, but have been following them ever since someone recommended them to me. You can honestly tell how much care and love is given to these birds. It's an amazing group to participate in. When I get my next feather friend, I'm definitely rescuing from here. Thanks for all you do!"
"I surrendered my cockatoo to Feathers Galore, and they were the perfect fit for him. He had behavioral issues and ended up having some medical issues, and she has worked with him through all of them. He is doing better in her care than I could have ever imagined him doing. I couldn't be happier with where he is and would recommend them to anyone needing to surrender a bird, looking to adopt one, or anyone needing info, help, or boarding for their feathered friend. Truly an answered prayer for my boy!"
