"I called them to check on an insurance payment for a mutual customer. A live person answered the phone. This alone was an amazing experience for calling a financial institution. Nice to not have to waste 5 minutes of my life trying to get to a person."
"This is the absolute worse lender to deal with and I’ve dealt with several banks. You’re better off finding a different bank as it will take 3-4 months to close. They’ll try to lock you in with seemingly good rates but it’s not worth the headache and stress they’ll put you through along the way. There is no communication and they’ll even tell colleagues that you called, but won’t have time to call you back. And, if you wait out their 3-4 month approval process where you’re basically stuck in limbo and where no one returns your calls to update you, you’ll deplete your personal savings through the construction phase because Brandye takes 3 + weeks to approve your draws. Save yourself the stress and go through any other bank but this one."
"We got a small loan for some property back late last year, and I should have dealt with another company instead, because right off they seemed really rude and not caring if we done the deal or not, we never could get anyone to give us calls back even still to this day can't. They threatened us with an increase in our interest if we didn't set up auto pay, which I understand though it was never mentioned at first, so we sent in everything to get it set up, and THEY NEVER took it out! Causing our payments to be late. I called, and emailed and was told oh I'll get back to you by Eric Jarrard he's the one we've dealt with but never gets back to you. So finally just today I called customer care and the lady who was very nice told us she'd have it fixed that we had everything on our part, she didn't understand why he didn't have it fixed already. So hopefully I have my issue resolved, but I WILL NEVER deal with Rural 1st nor will I ever recommend them to anyone."
"This is the most difficult lender I have ever dealt with. Took four months to close the loan during which time interest climbed an additional half a percent and building materials cost increased. There is a lack of communication on their end. I strongly recommend others find a different lender to work with. Our dealings were with Rural 1st, a subsidiary of Farm Credit."
"We worked with the Elizabethtown office. Everyone was nice and professional which is the only reason I'm giving 4 stars. Our issues were that it seems to have taken forever for approval. Started the process months before a real estate purchase, anticipating it would speed up the process. No so. Never really got all the information on what they needed up front, which would have helped and every week it was literally something else for documentation. Even after we purchased the property at County Auction in October, it took just short of another 2 months to get everything wrapped up and finally close. It can't be so complicated! Not sure where the problems were either. We've purchased property before and I've never seen anything take this long to get done. It was ridiculously slow."
