Reviews of Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill Water House
"I loved spending a day at shaker village. Nice history."
"Amazing historical site, restaurant, museum, and hotel! Definitely worth the stop. You can tour the grounds on self-guided tours (throughout the grounds, farms, barns, and now air conditioned buildings). You can join guided tours and interpretive talks led by friendly and knowledgeable guides. There are restrooms throughout the grounds and shaded paths with beaches intermittently. The buildings are not particularly ADA friendly (I didn't see ramps or lifts and the historic staircases and floors are uneven). We had lunch in the restaurant (where there are also gift shops and hotel rooms). The service was great and the food was delicious. Most of the meals follow shaker recipes and utilize ingredients grown from their farm right on the property. Other hotel rooms are scattered throughout the historic buildings. The museum spreads across these structures and provides an incredible look at the Shaker life."
"Learned lots of history that was surprising and fun. Definitely reccomend staying over night in the old buildings but modern rooms. Activities for people of all ages( is lots of walking tho)"
"Our first stay at Shaker Village and what a great time we had. Lots to see and explore with guided tours where you can learn about and see how the Shakers lived. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to help. A big thanks to Ashley in the restaurant for making up a to-go breakfast for one member of our party who wasn't able to make it to breakfast. Looking forward to our next visit!!!"
"So much fun and so much history here. I've been coming here for years and years. Some fans of Shaker Village have become upset with the changes over recent years because management decided to stop the demonstrations and focus more on the guided experience tours. They've modernised a lot of sights which has also struck a nerve with many people. To me however, I always find my time at Shaker Village as very relaxing. I love to stroll through the town and learn about history, walk over to the Trustee's office for a delicious breakfast, lunch, or dinner (see photos), or head over to the farm and hang out with the animals. My wife and I love coming here, it's always pleasant. Pro tip - Make sure to ask the front desk for a fire pit if you're spending the night and weather permits. It's incredibly soothing to the soul."
