Reviews of Elisabeth C Von Bun, MD
"Dr Von Bun has been my Oncologist for almost 5 years now. Love her and her staff. She was also my Mom's Dr."
"Dr. Von Bun has no compassion or sympathy for her cancer patients. She talks over you and no matter your concerns, she brushes them off as nothing. Very disappointed."
"I previously had a Chemo Port infused in February with no incident, however I presented myself to the office June 2nd and two licensed RNs were unable to flush my port. The first RN did not wash her hands, complete a sterile field, numb the port site or ask if I had used a numbing cream prior to her attempt. She proceeded regardless of these things, and her attempt at accessing the port caused me excruciating pain, as her attempt landed the needle outside of the actual port itself. The needle that is used for a port flush is a Huber 1 inch needle with a hooked end, and if she would have palpated the port itself it probably would have guaranteed a successful access, but she did not. This has caused me excruciating pain, as another attempt had to be made by another nurse who was unsuccessful also, and a financial burden for follow-up with the hospital, and a future Port flow study to make sure that there are no existing blood clots, fragments, or that anything is wrong with the port itself. I've had the port for three and a half years with no prior issues with any infusion or flush. I did have a successful Port flush in February with a very competent nurse, and should my chart notes from that office encounter been read beforehand then the nurse who attempted the flush during this visit would have known that numbing spray was used before I was flushed, and not just assumed that she need not ask about it. I was told by the nurse that the office didn't carry it, but magically the second nurse appeared with it. Also this nurse documented that a successful Port flush was completed with presumption, and on the behalf of the other coworker. This is illegal and unethical. I've also asked that my chart and her nurse note be amended to reflect that neither attempt was successful. Also regarding the referral made for the port study by this office, neither the referral coordinator or the nursing staff, or whoever is responsible for contacting the patient regarding referrals did not call me with the scheduled appointment date and time, which caused me to have to reschedule the study. Interventional Radiology does not numb the site beforehand, so I requested a prescription for either numbing spray or cream and here we are five days later, today, someone finally called me, and in this phone call I was accused basically of not showing up for the scheduled flow study, and once again had to reiterate to the incompetent staff that their office never called me with a scheduled date and time for the study, and it had to be rescheduled. I'm just really tired of dealing with this office and their incompetent staff, so with that being said I will establish care elsewhere. I have followed through with the facility director, The Joint Commission, and the state of IN."
"Dr von Bun is absolutely one of the kindest doctors I've ever encountered! She spent almost an hour reviewing and explaining my many test results during the 15 minute visit that my insurance company pays for!"
