Reviews of George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge
"It’s a must stop place of Louisville. Just grab a warm coat during winter, because it’s pretty chilly."
"202309 Massive and beautifully constructed bridge. The Welcome to Indiana sign needs to be bigger. Love the Kentucky one."
"I love this bridge. Freshly painted. Slower traffic. Sidewalks. And a beautiful scenic view of the Ohio River. I did see one graffiti tag but it wasn't vulgar. A little bit of railing to complete on the sidewalk but the temporary repair there was adequate."
"There are a number of bridges for crossing the Ohio River between Louisville Kentucky and Jeffersonville Indiana. I did almost all of my crossings on this one, mostly because it's FREE. Yes, the Kennedy Memorial Bridge (southbound) and the Abraham Lincoln Bridge (northbound) carry I-65 across the river and they're toll bridges. Not the Clark bridge. Woot! Yeah, it's a "surface street" sort of bridge, so you're going to have a traffic light at one end and it's not built for the same sort of highway speeds as the others but it's FREE. This is a four-land cantilevered truss bridge that carries US 31. With seven spans, it has a total length of 5746 feet and is 38 feet wide. At normal river stage, it is 72.6 feet above the middle of the channel span. Considering that construction began in 1928 and opened to traffic on November 1 1929 (NINETY YEARS AGO), this bridge is looking pretty darned good, especially considering some upgrades for the opening of the KFC Yum! Center in 2010. Smooth and easy transition. There is also a pedestrian walkway. As good as it gets!"
